Chapter 21: Visible Path (Continued)

The situation has changed dramatically since the map began! New boss in the south, new reinforcements in the west. Objective is now to defeat both Aya and Momiji, Battle Mastery is to defeat Momiji first.
First, it's time for some redistribution of forces.

Everyone with ludicrous accuracy or Strike heads south to engage Aya. Everyone else heads north to engage Momiji.
Because those people will be completely useless against Aya.

The Three Fairies pull out all the stops to get to work on the other tengu! There are just a huge amount of enemies to take down on this crazy map.

The chumps of this fight are putting up a fierce resistance! I can't go all out, since I still have two bosses to defeat...

Some concentrated effort from the enemy deals a devastating blow to the Three Fairies! They are now the Two Fairies, as Luna is cut down by Momiji. The S Formation Attack is sealed, and they lose their evasion buff...

I'd expect it during an incident, but what's your reason today?

Everyone likes your shrine, so they're lending it a hand.

OK, I get it.

Next objective: Shoot down as many tengu as I can this turn! Having all six (counting Momiji and Aya) of them up at once is murder.
With the whole north squad working in peak form, I manage to take down two crows and a wolf before the enemy counterattack.

Momiji is sturdy and powerful, but her evasion is nil and her accuracy isn't great. With a bit of effort, characters like Alice can run circles around her.

...Well, if I aim by intuition, I'll probably hit you eventually!

Come on, show me the power of thte modern Hakurei Shrine Maiden!

First round is an even dual miss!
Note that Aya is our first opponent to pack multiple spell cards.

With Sakuya having taken down the last of the underling tengu, it's down to just us and the bosses!

Momiji puts up a solid defense against superior firepower from all sides...

...but our solid offense is better!

[ BGM - Falling Harvest Autumn ~ Fall of Fall ]

Hound Sign "Rabies Bite"

Inside this spell, all defensive abilities are neutralized, from defesive support to Rumia's barrier!
Also, Aya and Momiji have gotten kind of alarming up in each other's business. I have to take one of them down, and fast.

That damn shield gives her a chance to take reduced damage from any attack.

And that damn sword just...
...ow.

And the intrepid doll Shanghai defeats Momiji!

Momiji, I'll handle things from here. Go ahead and withdraw.

I'll mop up what's left.

As Keine says, just one more! How hard could it be?
First lifebar passes without further incident.

The tengu haven't exactly been quiet about it, either.

If I surrender that easily, how would that reflect on the tengu?

[ BGM - Black-Winged Wind God ~ Youkai Mountain ]

Wind God "Tengu's Fall Wind"

Big area - any of us inside it get -15% evasion.

I really don't know what I'd do without Strike.

That... is surprisingly surviveable!

GO TEAM MALICE

And ultimately, it is Mokou who takes down the second lifebar.

Every living thing in Gensokyo bows down before the tengu's march!

Illusionary Dominance

Final spell! As long as she's on her own field, Aya gets +30 mobility and +1 move speed.

And down goes Kurumi. Again.

OKAY, this is straight-up necessary if we want a chance of bringing her down.

Hit hard with Strike-enabled attacks or crazy accurate badasses!

Get hit with painful, accurate counterattacks!

Spirit Sign "Fantasy Seal"

Maybe I should've teamed up with that curse god...

They aren't allowed on the grounds, and they don't know what they're thinking...

(...)

If you follow that path, you'll reach the Moriya Shrine soon enough.

Anyway, good luck!

Stage Clear

Battle Mastery achieved
Luna Child shot down
Kurumi shot down

We're back on our way before enemy reinforcements!
The Fairies admit that they weren't planning on fighting at all, but maybe they can win with the shrine maiden and magician on their side. Cirno has brought some clout to the team!

Overall there is a lot of catching up from the last mission. Apparently Marisa never got the radio messages.

Now! About the way to go.
Mokou says that there's no reason to trust Aya's words, but Alice isn't so sure. She's starting to get the feeling that the youkai of the mountain wouldn't really be THAT broken up at the prospect of the shrine going down.

Elsewhere, Aya and Momiji regroup after their defeat. Momiji is ready to go back, but Aya's got other plans - they're going to tail Reimu's group.
There's too much that the tengu don't know about that shrine, and this might be the perfect opportunity to get some intel...
In other words, win or lose, Aya was going to get what she wanted after this battle.
To be continued!
