Let's Play Umineko, Episode 4 Scene 19: The Monarchs

BGM: Death (From Stupefaction)
George was bold, but there are consequences to picking a fight with one of the 72 Great Demons.

Gaap's power is not one that humans can oppose. The kick sends him flying into the rose garden, but before he hits the ground, another gap swallows him.

There's no real reason she couldn't end this whenever she wanted. George is the fly, Gaap the spider.

George has money and influence. What he lacks is force.

Meanwhile, in the mansion, Jessica is fighting a battle of her own.

Her initial charge was impressive, but since then, she hasn't landed a single hit, nor has Ronove made any attempt to counterattack. He's just humoring her little rebellion.

Snakes don't have legs, jackass.
Jessica changes up her attack pattern, throwing kicks in as well as punches. This isn't that big of a room, so there's only so much space he can dodge to.

Jessica isn't unarmed. She has her trusty brass knuckles, which greatly complicate defense. Even if you block a blow from those with your arms, your arms will take damage.
So, once he's cornered, she can start stacking up some real damage!

Jessica finally connects with another punch. He blocks it with the arm, but it still looks like it hurt like hell.

When she slams her fists into Ronove next, there's a sound like breaking glass.

Did you forget, Jessica? Your opponent isn't human.

Ronove deigns to use a tiny fraction of his power. her technique is impressive, but this is the limit of humans.

Jessica's style is all offense, no defense. Once blocked by Ronove's barrier she's wide open.
That punch was the last time Jessica will ever touch Ronove's body.

Outside, Gaap looks down on George's beaten body.

Gaap orders George to beg for his life. If he's pitiful enough, she might even forgive him, and let him live.

George doesn't answer, nor does he surrender. Looks like he has to fall a few more times.

These merciless beatings are fully visible to the audience in the dungeon. Shannon begs George to give her up, so that he can live. This is an execution, not a fight.
There's no way for her voice to reach George, but George still answers.

He'll fight Gaap for Shannon. He'll fight the whole world for Shannon.
He will secure the blessing for his marriage by force.

Just as Shannon's words reached him, George believes his words will reach Shannon. That power is called love.

Love? Don't be ridiculous. George's so-called power couldn't lay a single wound on Gaap.
After all, Gaap counters, where's the power he should have received from his dead parents? I guess they died for nothing!

It takes Gaap a moment to understand what's going on.
The thing blocking Gaap's vision is the bottom of George's shoe.

BGM: Victima Propiciatoria

Eva was always learning her martial arts, and didn't just keep it to herself.
What George got from his father was fortitude. What he got from his mother was this kick.

A hole opens underneath George, but he quickly widens his stance, straddling the hole.

Gaap's trick won't work on George again. She opens a dozen holes as he charges, but he dodges every one.

Again, he stops his kick an inch from his target, stating what the damage would have been.
She counters with a stiletto kick to the leg, but George is already gone, stopping an axe kick a hair's breadth from a strike. Collarbone fractured.

At longer range, she can still user her full combination of gaps and kicks. Her counterattack begins now--

But he's already closed the distance. Eye fundus fractured, cerebral contusion.
His kicks gained power from karate, speed from tae kwon do, and range from capoeira. He's stronger than her.

George's kicks are messages. Warning her that, if she strikes him, the retaliation will be instantaneous and crushingly powerful.
That is the power of a king. Use force not to destroy, but to control. If he kills Gaap here, he won't be able to user her against Kinzo.

Gaap admits she made light of George's power. However, that ends now.

She refuses to surrender? Very well. From here on, she shall receive damage proportional to the attacks she makes.

When determination reaches a high enough level, it ceases to be mere determination, and becomes something else.
It becomes magic.

Ronove's shield absorbs all physical damage. Or, at least... it should.
Bit by bit, damage is transferring over to his body.

Jessica's conviction is that there is no such thing as useless effort. If you live to the fullest, your words will eventually reach through. If you fight to the fullest, your fists will eventually break through.

Jessica believes that a future exists for them. A girl in love never thinks about giving up.

Determination becomes magic.
Ronove's shield is faltering.

But he's not done, either.

The goats who Gaap summoned were the last guards.
There's no such thing as wasted effort.

Jessica's voice reached Kanon. George's voice reached Shannon.

It's time to stop playing Kinzo's game.
