Let's Play Umineko Chiru, Episode 5 Scene 6: The New Detective

<< | ^^ | >>

Lambdadelta

In the place of Beato, who stepped down from the position of Game Master in the 4th game, Lambdadelta serves as the new Game Master in the 5th game. Therefore, it is expected that, while the 5th game may be quite similar to the previous ones, there will be differences...

She hates boredom as much as Bernkastel, and depending on the situation, she may become either an enemy or an ally for Beato and Bern.

October 4th, 1986, 11:00 AM
37 hours remain

BGM: Doorway of Summer

The cousins are reunited! Battler hasn't changed at all.

Between the cousins, the sparks have already begun to fly. Kanon and Shannon should be fine, and Kumasawa's always been a good liar, but Natsuhi worries about Nanjo.

Genji assures her that he'll do everything he can.

Beatrice is aware that their position is under attack, but she isn't worried.

Next year maybe impossible, but this year should be fine.

This extremely reliable fellow will be in charge of guarding the study's barrier.

Even Gaap is willing to take a break from misplacing Natsuhi's headache medicine to help out with the defenses.

While they fight in the magic world, Natsuhi will do all she can in the human world. Together, they will protect Kinzo's secret.

BGM: Organ Short No. 200 Million in C Minor

Hmm? Well, suuure. October 4th is like a preparation turn for me. If you don't feel like doing anything, why don't you just sit around until October 5th? I'll call you after the first six die!

Although that can change as the tactics of the match progress. Don't they say that the second player has a much better chance at a draw?
Even I know what 'the first to strike wins' means. What are you trying to say?
Pffft! This is why you're so incompetent.
Seriously. Are you listening, Battler? There is a puzzle which can be solved even on October 4th. Do you know what that is?
You don't mean...
Heheheheheheh! Watch and see, Battler the Incompetent!
Heh heh heh...

Why does the Witch's Epitaph exist?

That's the real question to be asking.

On Rokkenjima, the typhoon has begun.

It's time for the younger siblings to go on the offensive.

Rosa sleeps, while Maria waits out in the rain.

Outside, Maria meets someone for the first time.

This isn't Beatrice.

There is one more person on the island.

It's an unexpected development, but no reason to change any plans.

That's one reassurance, at least. Whoever this is, it isn't the perpetrator of that eerie phone call.

Everyone's bustling about this new guest. It's an astounding coincidence that she survived.

Gohda reports that the stranger has received Nanjo's full attention, and should recover without any trouble.

Battler was right, boats ARE scary.

The uninvited guest should be re-emerging shortly. Krauss tells everyone to make her feel welcome, even if she wasn't part of the conference's plans.

Genji enters, bows deeply, and urges the guest forward.

BGM: The Great Detective Knows

Furudo Erika
Substitute Detective
Relation to the patriarch: None

With someone incompetent like you as the main character piece, the game wouldn't get anywhere. That's why I've placed myself there as a piece.
Well, it's just a bit of a bonus. Even in a closed circle, it'd get boring to see the same thing every single time, right?
Quit messing around. This piece doesn't exist on Beato's game board. Beato and I won't acknowledge it!
This is Beato's game board, right? If Beato refuses, then I'll think about it. Beato's opinion?

Wanna try complaining about the rules and stepping down from the game? Isn't that the favorite move of you mystery people? If there's even a tiny element that goes against your expectations, you have a tantrum and totally stop thinking.
Ugh...
Don't worry. I'll make a detective proclamation about this piece.
Detective proclamation...?

The detective is not the culprit. No proof is needed to show this. In short, there is absolutely no need to suspect this girl. Even if she appears as a human piece from now on, you can theorize the same way as you always did, get it?

Repeat it. 'Furudo Erika had no influence on any of Beato's games before now'.
Sure, I'll respond. Furudo Erika had no influence on any of Beato's games before now. She's nothing more than an extra character who appears for the first time this round. She does not exist in the worlds before this one, nor does she influence them.
In that case, what happens to the number of people on this island right now?
Of course, it's plus 1 over the previous number. But don't worry, Furudo Erika only increases it by one person. Besides her, the number of people on this island is exactly the same as it was in the previous games.

The cousins have arrived to meet the newcomer!

Genji introduces her, and Erika politely greets them in turn.

Looks like it. In other words, the number of people in this parlor now is equal to the total number of people on the island.
There were supposedly 18 people on the island, but since grandfather was actually dead, that became 17... and now one piece of Bernkastel's has been added.

Let's take a look here.

There you have it. Everyone on Rokkenjima is in here.

Erika was a bit stiff to start, but her expression gradually softens as she talks with people her own age.

And so, Furudo Erika is added to the game board.

Natsuhi offers to let Erika keep the clothes she borrowed as a gesture of goodwill.

But... who is she?

Is her coming here really a coincidence?

Genji contacted the coast guard, and it sounds like someone did fall from a pleasure boat in the area. Still, it's a bit hard to swallow.

Natsuhi makes sure Genji understands: He is not to let her anywhere near the real business of the family conference.

Beatrice and Ronove suspect that Bernkastel has added a new piece to the board. She is not to be underestimated on this side of things, either.
