Let's Play Umineko Chiru, Episode 7 Scene 7: The Kidnapping

<< | ^^ | >>

BGM: The Girls' Witch Hunt

Three Japanese soldiers charge into the room.

Both sides open fire, and soldiers die immediately. It's a space too narrow for bullets to easily miss.

If the Italians all died, then they wouldn't have to settle for 40% or 50%. They could just keep all the gold for themselves.

Angelo gives the order - kill the Japanese.

Yamamoto gives the order - kill the Italians.

From the moment that gold came into the open, this was the only way any of this could have ended.

Charging into the battle blindly, Kinzo sees the corpses of his fellow men.

Kinzo joined the army to die, but now that he's faced with death, it doesn't seem so simple any more.

Gunfire cries out, and Tajima falls.

The Italian fires again, but hits Tajima's body as it leans against Kinzo, saving his life.

Kinzo runs.

More than anything, at this moment, Kinzo wants to live, not to die.

Bice taught him how to live. He can't give that up now.

The gunfire has spread through the entire base. Is Bice going to be okay?

BGM: Kuina

Two Japanese soldiers rush Rubens with guns. He kills them both, but gets shot himself, all three collapsing.

The next person to appear is Yamamoto.

In this labyrinth of tight passages, the only way to survive is to pull the trigger as quickly as you can spot an enemy.

People are dying in droves all across Rokkenjima. The dead outnumber the living.

Soldiers shoot, soldiers die, and eventually silence reclaims the island.

As Angelo explores the base, all he finds are corpses, friend and foe alike.

Angelo hears someone shuffling his way around the corner.

As he prepares to jump out, he hears an Italian voice, not a Japanese one.

BGM: Golden Slaughterer

Yamamoto shot first, pistol in one hand and hostage in the other.

He believes himself to be the only one alive, and Angelo to be the last of the Italians.

Leave no survivors. Take the gold you can carry and run.

The gears turn in Yamamoto's deranged mind. It must have been Kinzo who tipped off the Italians! That's why the grenade ambush failed!

All Kinzo wants out of this is for Bice to come through it alive.

The bullet grazes his ear. At the moment of his distraction, Beatrice plants her right foot in Yamamoto's crotch.

One last gunshot cuts through the air.

Yamamoto falls backwards, and the battle for Rokkenjima ends.

Bice's ribs are probably cracked. The nearest doctor would be on Niijima, the next island over.

All the men yelling about the secrecy of the island are dead now, so what's to stop them from leaving?

If Bice goes to a hospital, they'll contact the Italian embassy, and this will get even messier than it already is.

Bice has no homeland now. Everyone she knew has died.

Just as Kinzo was dead before he met Bice, she died on that submarine. Her parents died, her homeland surrendered. She, too, was ready to die until that day.

When the boat comes for her, she'll just go back to being dead, and so will he.

Bice's wish was for Kinzo to kidnap her until the boat comes. However, there's one part of that wish he can't agree to.

Somewhere on Niijima there must be a doctor who can be persuaded to stay quiet about Bice's situation in exchange for a little golden magic.

Two corpses adrift at sea, only ever able to live as long as they're together.
