Let's Play Umineko Chiru, Episode 7 Scene 21: The Last Tale - The Day the Witch Revived

<< | ^^ | >>

Everybody has always been forbidden from entering the chapel. Over time, people simply forgot it existed. Even Beatrice had no desire to come here.

You will be blessed only at a probability of a quadrillion to one.

Since ages past, Kinzo has been planning to use something like this to select a successor.

Beatrice uses magic to call forth a ladder.

Beatrice always figured that the master treasured this relief, so the head servant cared for it personally. But what if there was another meaning to that detail?

It has to be this. How else could the sacrifices be offered up?

BGM: 7 Weights

The Q is to be sacrificed. Then I, L, I, A, and N.

However, there's a problem.

Which L is the last sacrifice?

Beatrice decides to try the one on the right for now. That leaves five letters.

On to the second twilight - tear apart the two who are close.

'Gouge' and ;Kill' probably mean 'Turn the key' and 'Take the key out'. And head to let means starting left and going right.

So, 'tear apart' isn't to kill, but to move.

Both choices are wrong. Both would leave another two who are close.

Beatrice chose the wrong L. Go back.

Third Twilight. "Praise my name."

What other form can the letters UDRLO take?

The name is Ushiromiya Kinzo, but there aren't enough letters for that.

A word to praise Kinzo's name.

URDLO.

LORD U.

On the fourth twilight, gouge the head and kill.

Next the O. Then the R. Then the D. Then the U.

Nothing changes in the relief, but something must have opened up nearby.

All the letters are removed. It's time to move on.

Tenth Twilight. The journey shall end, and you shall reach the capital where the gold dwells.

Something did change.

Nothing else is obviously different. Is it what the lion is looking at?

The lions point around in a circle to the back of the chapel.

Beatrice finds the entrance to the Golden Land.

According to the previous games, there was an underground VIP room there, along with ten tons of gold, right?
Yes. After going down a rough stairway, there was a door at the end of the passage. Inside, it was beautifully furnished, a true VIP room.
And is the gold all you found there?
Yes, at the time... it would be a lie to say that I was not dizzied by the sight of all that gold stacked high...

Beatrice touches the gold, half afraid it will crumble like sand, but it's real.

A little laugh, at least, seems appropriate for the situation.

Mostly, Beatrice feels like she's somewhere she shouldn't be.

Is Kinzo coming to scold her for trespassing upon this place?

No.

After a long moment, Genji puts his hands together, solemnly applauding Beatrice's efforts.

Fate brought about this day.

Genji leads Beatrice to a closet in the VIP room. Inside is a beautiful dress of black and gold.

Once more, Beatrice must wear her old dress.

By finding the Golden Land, Beatrice has truly revived.

The epitaph always was, truly, a ceremony to resurrect Beatrice.

BGM: Bring the Fate

Genji enters Kinzo's study to tell him what has happened.

Why her?

Why was she the one to solve the epitaph?

Kinzo awaits.

Kinzo crawls to her, having forgotten even how to stand in his awe.

Kinzo looks at a living woman, and speaks to one who died years ago.

Right now, the third and final Beatrice is the only person who can tell Kinzo that his sins are forgiven.

No, not even she can do that.

Humans find forgiveness through regret and repentance.

Simply by seeing Beatrice, Kinzo was able to truly repent in his heart.

Kinzo congratulates Beatrice for solving the epitaph. She isn't sure what to say.

All this time, and she never knew.

She'd dreamed about being a Golden Witch, but that was a dream for a universe of one.

She carries the blood of the original Beatrice.

Genji, Kumasawa, and Nanjo were the only ones who knew.

Was this day inevitable? Was it God's will?

The name Kinzo would have given her.

Everything is returned from Kinzo to Beatrice, as promised. The gold, the family, everything.

Lion is now the family head.

Kinzo has but one final request.

He knows he has never been anything like a father to her in her life. It's something he has no right to ask.

But still, he asks it.

He can't be forgiven with so little. Ushiromiya Kinzo looks forwards, towards the fires of hell, with no regrets.

And so Kinzo's soul burns out.

BGM: Song Without a Name

For the present, Beatrice will leave the gold where it is. Gold can't heal the pain in her heart.

Genji gives her a key with which she can come and go from this hidden room freely.

Now that Beatrice is the master of Rokkenjima, she has the right to know all of its secrets. Kuwadorian. The old military base.

When Beatrice is able to figure out the questions she wants to ask, Genji will answer all of them.

Wait, wait. Beatrice would much rather Krauss inherit the role. She doesn't want that kind of responsibility.

If Lion became the head, the family would fall apart. To know is enough.

None of what happened tonight shall be repeated. The gold does not exist. Kinzo is still alive. Krauss is the successor.

All that changed is that Genji and Kumasawa will obey any order from the real, secret Head.

All that changed today was that a few more people acknowledged Beatrice's universe.
