He INSULTED SHINJI that makes him trustworthy
Zouken couldn't be a Master anymore, so he made Shinji do it in his place!
Just like Shirou and Dad, but with more spite.
Magi families only have one inheritor, so Sakura can't be a magus because Shinji is a magus.
Whew!
This guy's kind of an asshole, but it runs in the family!
And he's at least kind of reasonable about it.
And our battle with Rider comes to a close.

TO THE CHURCH TO SAVE THE PERSON RIDER WAS EATING

Churches are a good place to think about backstories.

Ilya and Caster/Kuzuki managed to be huge pains in the ass for like half the game after they started targeting Shirou. Even Rider manages to do much better when Shinji's not there to "help" in Fate and UBW...actually, Rider gets unceremoniously killed on UBW, too, while right next to Shinji.
So basically, Shinji's so terrible he actually makes "his" Servant worse when he's around.
