Chapter 13: Darkforge

This is a pretty unremarkable floor, save for a single monster.

Special: Very high PV, vulnerable to lightning

There is always one of these guarding the down staircase on this floor.

LARGE BATS: 15/20
Technically, I can kill a steel golem in one hit with Lightning Bolt, but they shrug off bolts so often that it usually takes a dozen.

In this particular case, it took me thirty shots to hit it.
But the path is open!

Darkforge
Mighty factory corrupted by chaos
Threat Level: 4/5

Darkforge is often used by players as a test of whether or not they're strong enough for the Tower of Eternal Flames. There are legions of steel golems, all of them next to impossible to land a bolt on.

GOT ONE
There are, in total, 32 steel golems in this dungeon. Between this one and the one guarding the entrance, 30 remain.

My absurd PV makes this area shockingly safe for me, even if it's hard as balls to kill the damn things.

23 left! First wave completed.

I must never open this door.
To do so will drive me mad with temptation and ruin.

Special: Unique, corrupts, assigns chaotic quests, immune to fire
Corpse: No effect
Kherab is not currently hostile! I will take this opportunity to round up some golems for bullshit.

Coward tactics! Get all eight of the golems in this room in a ring around me!

LIGHTNING BALL

Two castings later, all eight are dead.
Shit's not even fair.

Useless spell!

Kherab has two quests to grant:
-Kill the druid in Terinyo.
-Kill Thrundarr.
The rewards for both are nasty corrupting artifacts, and having to go through the rest of the game with all of Dwarftown and Terinyo hostile is grueling and unpleasant. This guy is evil and wants me dead.

Instead, I will kill him!

ACID BALL BITCH
MOST POWERFUL OFFENSIVE SPELL, IN THEORY

Kherab drops a shitload of items I don't want! Also, 35k experience.

Room full of armor! All of it sucks.
The path here is trapped, so it's best to teleport over it.

Room full of weapons! Best thing I spot here is an eternium broadsword, which isn't as good as the golden gladius.

Money!

MORE STEEL GOLEMS

The last two steel golems!
Let's lightning ball them into oblivion and check that item out.

Another artifact, one that I can't yet identify but will carefully NOT equip.

Damn it! Blocked again.
However, I had no trouble with this area.

Back to the surface!
Then, to the barbarian's glade!

Dropping several items for safekeeping!
Taking several deep breaths!
THEN...
