Chapter 2: The Archives

Nice to see you again.
I was just taking a look at tiny door.

I definitely can't fit through that, but maybe...

Yup! It just needed some adjusting.

Gosh, it's dark in here.

Much better!
Nice mural, huh.

Well, this sure is interesting.

For starters, somebody left a perfectly good tube flask here. I'd better pick it up in case I run into them later.

Father commands me to record the truth of history, so that readers will
learn from those who went before.
Therefore, I give each of my seven sons one of these self-engraving,
history-recording klay walls. This wall automatically records the
activity in this world, and in any other world containing one of the
other walls.
Behold. Anyone who tampers with the records on these walls will be
considered the enemy of Father. I will not like you much, either.
This wall is given by Father. It will teach you to acquire wisdom,
integrity, and skills for solving problems.
In each of our lives, we must make decisions. When these times come,
be ready to make the right choices.
Continue in what you know is true, though truth is often hard to see.
These walls may hold the only truths you will know.
Quater

This wall really is quite interesting. It tells the stories of Father, Quater, and Quater's sons:

Ogdilla,

BertBert,

Numeron,

Ottoborg,

Homen,

Hoborg,

And Arven.
Oh, look.

Another one of those discs is at the very end of the wall. Lucky me.

No nice trees outside this window. I don't much fancy this view at all.

Anyway, I suppose I'd better get back now.

This really is an amazingly long corridor.
I did read the whole thing, you know. It's not required, but it's certainly an interesting story.

And here we are, back at the beginning again.
You know, I'm a little curious about something, actually.

What's this place look like in the dark?

Pretty dark, it turns out.
Oh, but look, that circle is glowing.

It was a button all along! Fancy that.

Oh, my, these do look important.
I'll be sure to write them down.

It was pretty dark down there, though. I wonder what it looks like in good light?

Less dark, it turns out!
Also, there's some things in here.

Pulling this lever shows a little cartoon of that robot that Hoborg was giving a present to back on the Wall.
It gets shot by a cannon. Poor thing.

Someone left one of these discs here, too.

And another button! Buttons everywhere, let me tell you.
This one makes a nice humming noise, but that's about it.

It's always polite to close the door behind you when you go.

Oh, good, this works both ways.
If it didn't, I'd have to try the window, and that would mean walking down that entire hallway again.

Well, enough of this place. Let's explore a bit more.

As long as I'm in an adventurous mood, let's check out that purple cave, why don't we?

My, it's dark in here.

Three locks here, but only one of them has a glowing button.

The glowing one unlocks easily, but the other two are stuck.
I wonder if this is related to that blue button I pushed before?

I'll get to that later. Let's try this nice beige place.

Looks inviting, at least.

I was hoping this would be a doorbell, but I don't think it is. I pushed it, and the tubes above the door played a little song, then the tubes next to the door played not much of a song at all.
The door didn't open.

The foot pedal doesn't do much, either.
Well, I'm out of ideas.

Looks like I'm going here next, then.

I think I'll take a little rest for the moment.
