Despite being at home on the fringes of the battle, Akiha is surprisingly hard to kill - she has a barrier that blocks all but the most powerful attacks. She's nearly mook-proof.

No upgrades today, we barely got any BP/FP last mission. Onward!

In the mean time, we're all invited to stay overnight so that we can discuss things tomorrow.

In the meantime, Akiha gives a summary of what's been happening around here!

There was some trouble a few months ago caused by the Tatari - a vampire with no physical form, that appears through rumors and manifests people's fears in the real world.

The Tatari should be dead now, thanks to Shiki, Arcueid, and a woman named Sion.

The next January, there was an event involving two cats that could manipulate dreams, sometines leading to the deaths of the dreamers.

Akiha tried to investigate that case, but couldn't come up with much.

Those were the two main events that have happened recently in this city.

The recent stagnation, similar to the curse of the Tatari, is why Shin'i was called in in the first place. Somebody is declaring war on Misaki City.

But for now, first priority is dealing with Nrvnqsr. He wasn't acting like his usual self, so he might be related closely to the mysteries surrounding the city.

He can't normally be killed, but Shiki can do it with his eyes.

Rin's here looking for a powerful magician named Touko Aozaki! Nobody here knows her, though, so no luck.

She also goes on to explain the Grail War, and why it's weird that it started up again.

Akiha is willing to accept Kohaku's participation in the Grail War, but only if she wins.

Enough for today! People start heading to bed.

Starting here, we're splitting up again - Takumi will investigate the vampires, while Haruna investigates the Grail War.

About that Grail War!

We've seen three so far - Saber is here, Caster's been defeated, and the man in red was Archer, who used to be Rin's Servant. The remaining Servants are Lancer, Rider, Berserker and Assassin.

Much like with Shirou, Kohaku isn't allowed to know what Saber's true identity is! She's too susceptible to mind control.

Before they wrap up for the night, Saber asks about Shirou!

Word is that he's alive, although he's living in an artificial body. The reason Rin is looking for Touko is to make him a better one.

Meanwhile, vampire hunt!

Haruna asks Saber some questions about her past. Saber can't say much, for fear of revealing her identity.

She's interested about the pasts of all the Servants now, because she's big on ancient history.

But wait! Enemies!

Chapter 8: The Decaying Bridge

The stagnation!

That's right. Now that we've found it, let's crush it.

Saber-chan, is that okay with you?

Yes. Do not concern yourself. It may not be part of a Servan't conflict...

But it is also not my intention to stand idly by and allow harm to come to innocents.

Thank you, Saber-chan.

No, it's nothing. Let's go!

Nothing complicated! Not even any real bosses.

This Black Getter-3 is our biggest concern - the rest are regular mooks, albeit some of them are new types.

All right, let's bring on the pain!

Chances are rare, but I like to go for kills with Kohaku when I can - I get more BP from them.

Senki attacks with a ranged claw attack! Damage is low, but it debuffs accuracy.

We're in range of the Black Getter!

That range is quite impressive.

And the last new mook is wiped out before it can land a hit on anyone!

Now it's just the Getter.

Saber and Kohaku have to run around to that staircase on the left, but Akiha and Haruna have enough range to attack the boss without going all the way up to it.

Holy hell this thing has too much HP.

But at melee range it's harmless, so I'm good.

Battle Mastery achieved!

Stagnation cleared! This place is a mess.

Akiha says a number of places have begun to stagnate like this - the school, and a nearby construction zone.

Saber's interested in this because it could be a lead on another Master - stagnation can be converted into mana, which could power a Servant.
