OK GUYS LET'S PLAN. I got 11 people replying saying they're interested, so we can so totally do this.

Reply here with the following information...

Masters
-Post indicating you are interested in playing a Master at all!
-If you have some kind of character concept, throw that out there, too.
-Servants can look over open Masters, and you can work out who would work well together and form Master/Servant teams.

Servant
-Post indicating you are interested in playing a Servant!
-Indicate the class or classes you're looking at.
-If you have an idea for an identity, you can post it or not post it, depending on whether or not you want it to be an OOC surprise.
-Either way, if you have one, throw out the basic character concept to whatever level of detail you want.
-Masters can do the same thing I described above, and plot to team up with open Servants.

You can, of course, post both. LET THE PLANNING COMMENCE.

I'm definitely down for playing a Master. I'll work on brainstorming tomorrow, but for now this is a I'M HERE LET'S PLOT OR SOMETHING comment. Though whatever I do, it's not like she'll (do you really expect me to play a guy) be a power-hungry maniac, so I have that at least.

I have no ideas right now for Servants, but I'm particular to Rider or Caster. Again, I'm up for ideas, but if someone else wants to take them, I'll bow out.

I kind of want to do this. I'd be okay with one of each, too, and I have a few ideas floating around in my head re: characters and classes and identities and stuff, but I'll work on it tomorrow and get back to you. (I know you all know I have way too many OCs floating around I could rework. ^^;)

EDIT: So we have Nakano Takeko as a Lancer, nobody ever wants to be that class anyway. As for my Master, I need ideas...

First up, SERVANTS. I got two concepts!

1. La Maupin aka Julie D'Aubigny, Saber class. Ridiculously badass bisexual duelist/opera singer who had a metric fuckton of affairs. Will probably fall passionately in love and/or lust with her Master and/or one of the other Servants. Her wanting into someone's pants does not necessary mean she won't try to sword them up. Quite the opposite in fact. She is a fierce and classy dame and no stranger to cunning plots.

2. Atalanta of Greek myth. Brawler or Lancer, possibly Archer or Berserker. Princess raised by bears, fond of fighting, quests, and putting suitors to death. Married after an incident involving golden apples. Cursed with the form of a lion for dissing Aphrodite. Violent, easily distracted, and a grade A showoff.

I don't have my MASTER fleshed out as well, but I'm leaning towards playing someone more evil than I usually do.

Alright so, I had a kind of silly idea about half way through F/V1 that I want to throw out here and see if anyone else is interested. It needs two people, or I'd just do it.

To sum up, I want to play with the idea put forth in the original F/SN with Shirou and Archer but take it in a completely different direction. The magus summons a heroic spirit version of himself, and then the two just team up and then instead of hating each other they put on sunglasses and team up, going on a romp of goofy memetic badassery.

So who's interested?

As a lot of people seem to want Rider, I'll take up Caster if nobody wants that. My idea right now is to have Caster be Queen Himiko, but if anyone has any other ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Master Idea:

An "Actor"/small time con struggling to make ends meet by any means possible unexpectedly inherits his grandpa's heirloom and ends up accidentally summoning a servant when he was seeing if he could pawn it off. Preferably his Servant is the guy's ancestor and all :| at how the family has fallen.

MASTER: Female jazz singer, soldier home from the war on disability leave, child street urchin.

SERVANTS: Bunch of villain ideas, specifically relating to Lancer, Assassin, and Caster. Also a heroic Assassin idea, as well as one who's more neutral on the spectrum. (I have a fondness for Assassins.) Had a Rider idea for a dude who uses a giant wolf as a mount, if that's cool... A female Avenger idea, a fairly generic female Saber, a General...

Goddammit I just have a shitton of ideas. Kind of hesitant to expand on them for fear of spoiling identities... hit me if you're interested, I guess!

Lancer, Assassin and Caster: Vlad the Impaler, Jack the Ripper, and Baba Yaga. Baba could work as Creator too, with the whole moving house thing. All of them would be evil Complete Monsters.

Good Assassin: Scheherazade. I don't think the original did much throat-slitting but fuck it, a teenage Arabic assassin girl is awesome, don't lie.

Wolf-riding Rider: Romulus. Spoiler alert, the wolf is his mom.

Avenger: Lilith, Adam's first wife.

Saber: Joan of Arc! Yeah not even gonna pretend this one is very creative.

General: Alexander the Great.

Creator/Caster: Nikola Tesla. Yes.

Could probably come up with more, gimmee some time.

Considering how many people are interested, I'll just sit out of playing a Servant I think. My idea for a Master, though, is to take advantage of the noir setting. He's a hardboiled private detective who technically comes from magus stock, but had a very hard falling out with his family over the way magi tend to be assholes. He knows certain simple types of magic which he uses for investigations, but is mostly an outsider--he's only participating in the Holy Grail War because he knows people will die, and nobody gets away with murder in his town.

Will gruffly and frankly tell his Servant they're not in this thing to win it, so if you want the Holy Grail and especially if you wanna kill anybody to get it, deal with it.

I still have to decide on the Master idea and look through more mythology and history for Servants, but... The one idea I had for a Rider class Servant was Admiral Yi Sun-Sin for Rider or Koschei for Caster.

I...have a few ideas, though the thing is they all tend toward Rider. I'm favoring Joshua the most, but I've also been considering Horatio Nelson and the Red Baron.

As for Master, I have an idea for a Church Executor to get involved. His specialty is channeling energy, and he uses that to give his Black Keys additional force.

The only idea I have is for one of these gals as a servant. She'd be Rider class. Still kinda hazy on the whole history, but she'd be russian and awesome.

Brawler/Berserker - Jacob from the Book of Genesis (wrestled an angel to a standstill)
Archer/Assassin - Odysseus (obvious/cliched, but one of my favorites)

Master: Failed businessman amidst the Depression, cuts his wrists in an attempt at suicide in the middle of a graveyard on the site of a magus's grave. A natural magic circuit and his last prayer summons a Servant (which is incompatible with the ones I just listed, they'd have to be someone else's)
I'm fine with (or would even prefer) playing only the Master.

But my first thought was Ethan Allen as either General or Soldier or... something else? He was freaking awesome when I did a report on him in school.

This is the 30's, right?

My Master idea is a dapper German gentleman who is, of course, a spy as well as a mage, searching for the Holy Grail in the interest of certain parties in Berlin. I can go one of two ways with this character, which is to say either Indiana Jones villain or honestly nice but deceptive guy who just happens to be working for the new Chancellor and his shady Thule Society backers.

As for Servants...I'll think of them later if we're not full up already.

Hm...Servant idea number 1:

Saber: Hervor, a badass reverse-trap Viking with a sword that must kill someone every time it's drawn (not that people necessarily die when they're killed). I played someone from the Volsungasaga in a different game, so why not the Tyrfing cycle here.

Sorry to bother you. Would you be interested in playing each other's Master and Servant? My concept for the former is a victim of Agonist syndrome, from DDD. Part of the mafia, and planning to win the Grail to remove the disease (a motivation which would change for the worse with time).

My idea for a Servant is the first murderer, Cain. I'm more than willing to change it if you want the Assassin class, though.

Name: Mu Guiying
Gender: Female
Approximate Apparent Age: 23 (actually well into her sixties when she died)

Personality: Guiying is very independent and will never let anyone truly control her. Though she is loyal to her Master as a matter of principle, in truth, she makes her own decisions. She will refuse any orders that seem too unreasonable to her. She is also a natural leader and will be the first to take charge in any emergencies. Growing up as the leader of a bandit village has given her a masculine air, so while she is female, she is definitely not the team mom. Though she seems ruthless in battle, off of the battlefield, she is capable of being pretty nice and has a soft spot for kids, especially ones that remind her of her own children.

Class: General
Fighting Style: Mu Guiying is first and foremost a strategist. While she is a powerful martial artist, her true skill is in planning. As a result, she is always careful and prepared. Even in single combat, she will do everything before and during the match to make sure that her side has the absolute advantage. While she disdains involving innocents in fights or outright breaking the stated rules of the match, she has no problems with pre-arranging traps or bending the rules as far as they will go. In combat, she usually tests the opponent first with feints, and then decides the right amount of force to use after getting a general idea of their true power.
Attitude towards the Holy Grail War: It is absolutely unneeded. In her lifetime, she never fought for any ruler or nation, but for the people in her nation who would become victims of the wars. She sees this war as selfish and unjustified and chafes at the idea of having to be under a Master. However, to minimize casualties, she will still use any tactics in her repetoire to win and get this war over with as quickly as possible.

Noble Phantasm:

Pear Blossom Lance: Had she not been a General, she would have been a Lancer. The Pear Blossom Lance is a product of Guiying's own ingenuity. Namely, she modified the shaft and turned it into a f*cking flamethrower. The only thing scarier than getting a lance thrust in your face is to get a flamethrowing lance thrust in your face. If she can't stab you to death, she'll burn you. Combined with her martial arts skill that utilize all parts of the lance as a weapon (plus keeps her from accidentally burning herself), this Noble Phantasm has taken down thousands of enemies in Guiying's lifetime.

Iron String Bow: Guiying's secondary NP. It takes the form of a huge, heavy bow that only she can pull back and string. As befits her careful personality, she usually uses this to sneak attack her enemies and snipe them. Arrows fired from this bow can split into three arrows to attack from three different directions.
