Let's Play Vantage Master
Welcome back!

The result of the cutscene at the end of the last update: New maps available! This happens every few conquests, as we expand eastward across the continent. However, I'm going to stick to the early stages, since I have to beat them all eventually, anyway.
Today's map pits us against Dunamis, in a battle to gain Ae-Ferrion, a new earth Natial.

Unlike the previous maps, this one doesn't make it laughably easy to hold on to every stone in the map. The top four will be cake, but either the lower left or lower right stone will inevitably end up in enemy hands.

The real danger of this map is the fact that my enemy is a Savage. While severely lacking in magic power, the Savage has immense attack, immense defense, and a ranged basic attack. I need to be VERY careful to not go anywhere near him. This will be especially tricky on a small map like this one.

The first contested area becomes the leftmost Stone. Things are going to get ugly fast, especially with the enemy Master coming in, so I'm going to withdraw to a safe distance, leaving my Natials to do the dirty work.

Meet Dullmdaler! The first non-crappy fire Natial. It has a special ability, which you will see later on.

I'm not gonna be able to hold onto this position. I'll just leave my Reque here to stall him from getting the Stone for as long as I can, but one way or another, this will make the first time in the game where I'm pushed back from a position!
It won't be the last.

In the meantime, though, I'll be taking over the rest of the entire map.

I have to be constantly checking the Savage's effect range - a single turn with Batman in that area could prove fatal. I'm just glad I'm faster than he is, so he'll never take 2 turns to Batman's 1.
Anyway, let's get to moving in from all sides to attack his little position.

This is what happens when a Savage throws a rock at something.
It dies.

Reque is doomed here, what with the Fa-Rancell in its face, so I might as well harass his Hepitus a little.

And so the stone finally falls into enemy hands.

The enemy has a pretty solid force here! If I send in air Natials to deal with the Fa-Rancells, they'll be in danger from the Hepitus. But if I send in water Natials to deal with the Hepitus, they'll be in danger from the Fa-Rancells...
...which brings is to our fourth tenet of Strategy: A strong force consists of two opposing elements. Earth and fire, water and air. There's nothing that can completely overtake it without opposition.

Guene-Foss will boldly charge the enemy formation to take down a Fa-Rancell!

Then, as predicted, get smashed to pieces.

Fa-Rancell here is seving a purpose much greater than just attacking that other Fa-Rancell here. This introduces the concept of ZOC (Zone Of Control): It's impossible to move more than one space through area adjacent to enemy units. Thus. with my Natial here, it's impossible for their Fa-Rancell to reach my otherwise vulnerable Marme.

I reclaim this Stone in the name of the Holy Batman Empire!

All right, Dullmdaler.
Time to show them your TRUE POWER.

This magic attack hits all enemies adjacent to the Dullmdaler, and is quite powerful! Even without an element advantage, the Hepitus takes 5 damage and dies.

What's your plan now, Dunamis?

You cannot stop my inexorable advance!

What he CAN do, though, is take freaking forever to go down, due to having ludicrous defense.

Fight, Marme! For everlasting peace!

BATMAN HASII WONED

A delicious increase to Speed this level. Also, I now have Ae-Ferrion, a decent artillery-style earth Natial. I will be using it to great effect on the next map!
