Let's Play Vantage Master

Welcome back!

With the completion of the previous map, the original four stages, known collectively as Phase 1, have all been cleared! We now proceed into Phase 2, which is where the game begins in earnest.

Our first opponent of Phase 2 is Lilupe, who appears to be a Bard. We will duel him(?) for the right to wield Zamilpen, a very useful water Natial!

This map is kind of an unusual one. On one hand, I have four Stones down here, and Lilupe only has one. On the other hand, he has the high ground, and all around a much more advantageous position in terms of terrain.

These are called Poison Swamps. Every time a unit starts its turn on one, it loses three health. Best to avoid them all the time, if possible.

THIS is why this map is a challenge. Ae-Ferrion can hit almost everything from is position up there. Including me, for huge damage.

Thanks to flying, I can rush a Guene-Foss to the top side of the cliff to deal with the thing. I summoned a Marme to keep me alive should I come under fire, and he almost killed it in one attack.

Okay, dealing with the problem a bit here. What's going on down below?

Dullmdaler can make short work of most air Natials with its awesome magic attack! Which is good, because Lilupe likes to have Guene-Foss running interference and trying to steal my stones.

And with this? The tide is turned.

Now instead of having the high ground, Lilupe basically has the middle ground on a hill, getting attacked from both above and below. In other words, he has a terrible position.

Keep the pressure on!

It might be possible to snipe their Master with some clever tactics at this point, but Lilupe's out of Stones, running out of Natials, and has nowhere left to run. I'll take this nice and slow.

Bards have amazingly low defense! Which leads us to the inevitable result:

BATMAN HASII WONED

Magic defense up! Not the most useful stat in the world, but still useful for when Guene-Foss comes knocking. On the Natials front, I get Zamilpen, a decently fast water Natial with a special magic attack, to be revealed in 2-2!

So why were the evil god of ice and the evil ghost fighting, then?
