Let's Play Umineko, Episode 3 Scene 14: The Entertainment
<< | ^^ | >>

EVA-Beatrice
Solved the riddle of the witch's epitaph, and was welcomed as the new Endless Witch. She has a natural ability in magic, and is expected to grow into an extraordinary Great Witch.
This genius witch often indulged in her power during her younger days. This is a test permitted only to geniuses, and if she succeeds, her name will probably be listed in the history of Endless Witches.
Will she be able to overcome the test which defeated her predecessors?

13 hours, 30 minutes remain

Nobody is too keen on sleeping right now.

Eva's not feeling well, but she insists on staying here for now. She doesn't want the other siblings talking about her behind her back.
Ultimately, she and Hideyoshi leave the lobby, retiring to their room.

As nerves continue to deteriorate, the sound of Maria having a tantrum echoes from upstairs.

Maria's throwing a tantrum because she's worried about her rose out in the garden.

With Maria's cries, Rosa's mood is turning dark again. The fact that her pill bottle turns out to be empty doesn't help.

Elsewhere, Eva's health is not improving. Hideyoshi looks after her.

Eva can feel the magic from Hideyoshi's hand. He decides against calling it the placebo effect for now.

Magic exists, but not like most things do. Like Beatrice, like God, it only exists for those who believe that it exists.
Eva has always had the power to make miracles happen with her hard work. Hideyoshi acknowledges her as a wonderful witch.

There has always been a witch inside Eva. However, recent events have given it more and more power.
Hideyoshi will protect her, though. As long as he's here, she will always be herself.

Rosa and Maria are making some noise out in the hall.

Hideyoshi isn't interested in getting involved with Rosa and Maria's problems right now. He lets her handle it, staying in the room.

Out in the hall, Rosa gradually loses her ability to cope with the situation.

Suddenly changing to her creepy alter ego, Maria says that if she can see her rose, she'll stay quiet all day.

For some piece and quiet, Rosa will gladly pay the price of going out into that storm. Besides, it's not like any murders happened.

They are being considerate of Rosa's pitiful relationship with her daughter, and are forcibly changing the subject. The group you are in went up to the second floor, and are talking about something else while watching TV.
You bastards! Someone, notice them! Who's the closest, is it Hideyoshi?! Please, notice that those two are leavng through the front door, aaaaaaaaaah!
It won't reach, it won't reach! Don't disturb their precious time together. Fuhahahahahahahahaha! Why are you so panicked? Didn't you defeat me with that bold move, saying that the culprit died in an accident at the first twilight? Doesn't that mean that there is no longer a culprit on this island? What is there to worry about?
Shut up, I can see right through you! Someone stop them, those two'll be killed! Someone, stop theeeem, aaaaaaaaaahh!Rokkenjima

The wind has died down for now. Unlike in the last two games, Maria is able to find her rose.
Rosa, meanwhile, is still a bit nervous about the prospect of someone watching her.

Out of the corner of her eye, Rosa sees a flutter of golden wings.

Eva suffers as the witch inside her grows more powerful.
She promises to let Nanjo take a look if she's still feeling like this by lunchtime. Until that moment, Hideyoshi will stay right by her side, here in this room.

At the exact same time, Rosa sees Eva approach in the garden.

Rosa doesn't want to bicker about money in front of Maria.
Eva laughs strangely, and Maria speaks up.

This person has no intention of giving Rosa a single cent.

BGM: Candles Dance

Rosa still recognizes her, but EVA-Beatrice denies that she is Rosa's sister. She is much more than human now.
But Rosa remembers. She saw Beatrice die 19 years ago. Still, none if that matters - the concept of death has no meaning to the eternal name of Beatrice.

Anyway, there's work to do. The ceremony still isn't complete, and now it's EVA-Beatrice's work.

Ronove suggests that she take a moment get used to her newfound powers.
The Second Twilight is upon us. It's time to see what the third Beatrice is capable of.

For her first trick, EVA-Beatrice defies gravity, sucking herself and Rosa high into the skies above Rokkenjima.

Rosa begs to be let down. Since it is the place of humans to crawl on the earth, EVA-Beatrice complies. With a swish of her staff, gravity restores itself, sending Rosa hurtling landward.

Oops. That won't do - it was not at all time for Rosa to die yet. The fun is just beginning!

Beatrice is an Endless Witch. Reviving the dead is well within the scope of her powers.
Killing is only wrong because the dead can't come back, right? So if you can revive the dead, what's wrong with killing someone?

Beatrice can do anything she wants now.

She can drown someone in a sea of jelly.

She can crush someone to death under a mountain of cake.

She can shrink someone down to the size of a butterfly and trap them in a spider's web.
Purgatorio

Don't fuck with me! Stop it already! What's so fun, you're insane! What's so fun about doing something like this?!
Doesn't that just look so fun? What do you expect, magic is fun! I remember, when I first became able to use magic, I played around a lot! I understand, from the bottom of my heart! Looks like I won't be able to share this joy and passion with you, Battler. What a shame, what a shame! If you accept me, I'll teach you magic any time you want! Kihihihihihihi, hyahyahahahahahahahahahaha!
You're insane! Stop it already, damn it! Virgilia, let me stop this insane farce! What should I do?!
We exist outside the board. We cannot touch the board itself.
Stop it stop it sop iiiiiiiiit! Quit messing around, you witch! Are you trying to tell me that's Eva? Impossible! The Eva I know may be a bit mean at times, but it's completely impossible that she would do something this cruel! This is all part of your deception! Stop this farce right noooooow!
I told you, I'm not the one playing with Rosa anymore. I told you, that's the new Beatrice. Is it really so cruel that you have to squeal like that? You're also pretty fond of stuff like this, aren't you?! You actually have just a bit of interest in magic, and--
--Ouch! W-What are you doing...
BGM: Black Lilliana

DISAPPEEEEEAAAAAAAAR!
Battler's cry becomes a red wall of force, knocking Beatrice off her feet.
Before she can retort, he's disappeared.

H-Hey, Teacher. It's nothing to get so angry about, is it?
...I have nothing in particular to say. If you think it's fun, you can keep watching as long as you want. Call me when it's finished. I will erase my form until then.
What's wrong? Isn't it a fun show? I-It might be a little vulgar, but it's fairly fun, right? Hey, Ronove! It's nothing to get so mad about, right?!
Pukukuku... Something fun for you, Milady, is not necessarily fun for Battler.
Does he really... hate me that much? Well, certainly, we are enemies and opponents in this competition... but is our relationship really so bad that we can't laugh together at this entertainment? Since I applauded together with Battler, I thought I could at least laugh together with him... Does he really reject me so much that we can't even do that? He doesn't have to accept that I'm a witch, because we're still challenging each other, but saying he won't look at my face, that he won't talk to me... am I really hated that much?!
You have advanced several moves that would make you hated, Milady. Even a demon such as myself can slightly understand Battler's feelings. Perhaps you cannot understand that because you are especially thickheaded, milady? Pukukuku.
Sh-Shut up shut up shut up shut up! Why don't you disappear, too?!
Certainly. Then, if you would excuse me...
What's going on? Why won't anyone play with me? Am I really that weird, that cruel? Someone, answer me!Rokkenjima

EVA-Beatrice cheerfully greets Beato, gushing about how amazing it is to be able to use magic.
Beato suggests that, just maybe, this is enough for the Second Twilight.

EVA-Beatrice isn't listening. She just wants to try harder and harder, to become a wonderful Golden Witch like her predecessor.
Beato orders her to stand back and watch while she shows how it's done.

Beato revives Rosa and Maria with a wave of her pipe. Dimly conscious, Rosa begs for Maria to be spared.

Beato promised to take Maria to the Golden Land, to play together for all eternity. That is a promise she can no longer keep, for she is no longer Beatrice.
The least she can do is offer a small gift in apology.

A soft red mark appears on Maria's neck.
She falls quietly into a sleep from which she will never awaken.

Rosa's death is quick as well, but not quite so elegant. Beato's magic launches her into the air, impaling her on the spiked top of the garden fence.

By Beato's hand, the Second Twilight is complete.

Beato insists that EVA-Beatrice, still an incomplete witch, follow her instructions until the Tenth Twilight.

EVA-Beatrice reluctantly agrees. There are still five people to kill, but it must be done with elegance and a little restraint.

By Beato's command, the Seven Stakes of Purgatory swear to treat their job with dignity and efficiency for the rest of the night.

Having said her piece, Beato disappears.
