Let's Play Umineko, Episode 3 Final Scene: The True Witch

<< | ^^ | >>

BGM: Thanks For Being Born

Wh... Whaaat?! Hey, what are you saying? Deny witches in red? Q-Quit talking like an idiot. If you do that, you won't get away unscathed, either...!
You are not a witch, and I am not a witch, either. The road to becoming a true witch is difficult, and I have much, much farther to go... In this place, right now, witches don't exist. I will strip this deception away from myself.
Aren't both of us real, obvious witches?! Being able to use red is itself proof of witches! I don't know what the definition of a witch is to you, but if you mistakenly think that you alone will be able to get away unscathed, then right now--
How could I be mistaken?
What... did you say...?
From the beginning, I wasn't able to become a witch. I have done nothing more than finally begin walking on the road to becoming a true witch. If you were to say that I am a witch now... I would be nothing more than a false witch addicted to power, like you.

A... Are you insane?! Stop it! I still want to be a witch! I hate humans!
Witch, please return to your seat, and receive the human side's response.
Wh-What are you doing?! Let go of me! Don't let that woman use red! Make her stop! Let goooooo!

Beatrice... you have... no regrets, do you?
That's my line. Sorry... Even though you taught me a lot of fun magic and magic of happiness, I couldn't use it well at all... so, I'll start over from zero. I am truly sorry... that you had to get caught up in your stupid disciple's misconduct.
...I had a good disciple in the very end. Go, while you still believe.
I don't have a clue what you guys are talking about, but I do understand one thing, and I can say this... Beato, I don't know what you're trying to do, but stop it...!
You have no moves, but I have one. If we let that move get away, she will be revived as a witch in the true sense, and this time, she will control this whole island. All nightmares will be hers to do with as she pleases, and this island will fall into the deepest hell of the evil witch's delusions, for all eternity. Can you permit that? Is it all right for your dear relatives to be toyed with for all eternity in that witch's nightmare?
Still, you shouldn't have to sacrifice yourself. This is a game between me and her. I'll think of something! I'll surely think of a miracle move...!

This game is cruel. The time limit for your consideration has already run out. I am now the only one who can do it. Calm yourself, Battler. I'll defeat her. I'll defeat that cruel witch with my own hands...

Let that child do as she likes. And please, see her through.
B... But...

...Starting now, I will deny witches in red. I will slice up the game board that she has laid out with her red. By doing that... I will probably lose my form as a witch as well. If you also hear the red truth I will tell, you will understand my true form.
If you alone cover your ears, the truth will not change at all. However... even so, I want you alone to cover your ears... I at least want to be a witch... in your eyes. Please...
Beatrice, there is no problem on the witch side. Please, your move.
Let gooooo! I won't let you get away with this either, okay?! She's insane! Do you plan on dying and taking us with you? Stop it, don't deny it! Stop iiiiiit!

And so Beatrice's final move begins.

Battler howls, so that not a single world will reach him.

The truth is a world that he will bring himself to with his own two hands.

In the end, Beatrice asked Battler to cover his ears, so he still doesn't know the whole truth.

...no. Don't think about that right now.

The game is over.

A single speck of gold appears in the darkness.

In the world beyond the end of the game, Battler and Beatrice meet once more.

From that light, a new world is born.

The banquet begins.

Battler has made it to the Golden Land.

Everyone is alive, celebrating Battler's return. Beatrice is here, too.

In the Golden Land, the souls of the dead are revived.

Kinzo is here. The Stakes are here. In the Golden Land, there is no hierarchy. No furniture, no servants. All can be happy, all can love.

Maria even finally became a witch.

It's a very strange scene, really.

There's just one teensy little detail left to take care of!

Virgilia takes Battler to a desk, where a parchment and quill pen have been set up.

At the bottom of it, are 17 names. Everyone but Battler has signed it.

Last time, because Battler didn't relent, the Golden Land was lost to darkness again. Magic can only exist if everyone believes in it.

All that needs to happen to prevent that tragedy from repeating itself is for Battler and Beatrice to sign this document.

The signatures are in place.

Next is the oath.

And that's that. The oaths of the 18 have all been gathered!

The crowd goes wild.

Just one more signature, and the Golden Land will be preserved forever, along with the souls of the dead.

A signature acknowledging that Battler, along with the other 17, accept Beatrice as the Golden Witch.

Wait a minute.

Isn't this what you were trying to prevent all this time, Battler?

The banquet goes silent. Battler turns to see what's going on.

Who is that?

Nobody who Battler knows.

The Seven Stakes surround the intruder, along with an army of goats, and the Siesta Sisters taking aim as well.

BGM: Wings

If Battler will not give his signature willingly, then the witches will extract it from him by force.

Was this their plan from the start? To trick Battler into accepting witches?

Is Beato, who learned so much about the meaning of magic, truly that kind of person?

Beatrice waves her pipe, calling forth a bolt of lightning to turn the intruder to ashes.

However, not a single hair on her head is harmed.

It's true. The whole thing was Beatrice and Virgilia's plan from the very start.

The North Wind and the Sun.

This game? Over? Don't be ridiculous. The game has scarcely begun!

A crimson barrier pushes back the goats before they can make Battler sign. It seems to have come from that girl.

The girl doesn't seem to be impressed with Battler's claims of suffering. He's living happily with his family, playing with his cousins, and now he gets to play with witches for all eternity.

He doesn't even understand the happiness he's been given, while she had to sit on the sidelines.

Finally, they both understand who this girl is.

Beatrice invites her formally to join in the game. She'll be crushed along with Battler in the next round!

BGM: Dread of the Grave
