Flameseeker: Characters
All names are surname-first.
Emperor Jian of Sheng
The current emperor of the Middle Empire. That is not his given name; it is essentially never considered acceptable to refer to the emperor by anything but their title or ruling name. Emperor Jian has ruled for 30 years; while he is growing quite old, he has an intensity that never seems to fade as the years pass.
Chief Advisor Zhou Lian
The Emperor's most trusted advisor. She began life as a peasant, but ascended through the legal system, spending several years as a judge, before her deeds impressed the Emperor enough to earn her a place by his side. Her hatred of political corruption is legendary; even a whisper of her name is enough to strike fear into the hearts of all those who would try to abuse the system for personal gain. Countless corrupt officials have been disgraced at her merciless judgment.
General Wu Jie
A gentle giant who leads the Middle Empire's peacekeeping forces. He is tasked with the empire's security, repelling both foreign invaders and creatures from the other realms. He's wary of cultivators, but not above accepting their help with particularly dangerous demons that have found their way into the mortal realm.
Flameseeker Gao Yan
The leader of the Flameseeker Clan, a Solar Rank cultivator. Her body is almost as huge as her personality, making her an imposing sight even among cultivators and spirits. She acts as an aspirational summit for her Clan, urging all who follow her to seek to surpass her.
Flameseeker Feng Ji
The elder sage of the Flameseeker Clan, a Solar Rank cultivator. The centuries have begun to catch up with them, and while they still seek immortality, they have retired from active leadership. Seldom is the extent of their power seen, but it's rumored that they're even more powerful than Yan Gao. These days, they seldom seem to even know what's going on around them, but nobody knows how much of that is feigned.
Flameseeker Jiang Pandi
An eccentric teacher of new students within the clan, a Lantern Rank cultivator. She ascended at a young age after an unkind childhood, and appears scarcely more than a child herself, but her true age is something of a mystery. Her teaching methods can be eccentric, but her eye for talent skill for drawing it out shouldn't be underestimated.
Jing
A strange figure sealed in the depths of the Flameseeker city. Everyone's heard the rumors, but few have actually met him. It is said that the leaders of the clan make deals with him to gain information that he couldn't possibly have. Then again, perhaps he's just a rumor...
Steelheart Li Gang
Leader of the Flameseekers' rivals, the Steelheart Clan. A man like a stone wall, both in strength and personality, he is the ultimate shield to Yan Gao's ultimate spear. The Steelheart Clan practices absolute faith to what you have chosen to become; once they find their center, none but the most incredible of forces can move them against their will.
Er Juexu
A famous spirit, known across the spirit world as a walking disaster. He's never directly involved in any catastrophes, but they seem to follow him wherever he goes. Often because of the countless powerful forces that he's cheated out of their treasures and secrets. Where did this unstoppable monkey spirit come from? Nobody knows for sure.
The Jade Administrator
The chief justice of the Celestial Court. A god among gods, whose rulings all carry the weight of truth and justice. Little else is known about them, for they never leave their seat in the Celestial Realm.
The Ivory Spider
A supreme spirit spoken of in whispers and folktales. The Spider is the guardian of the Oblivion Realm, tasked with ensuring that none of the dead are allowed to escape. All those who attempt to thwart the laws of the cosmos and revive the dead find themselves caught in the Ivory Spider's boundless web.
