RP Premise Discussion
The backdrop
The Metaverse is big. Bigger than anyone can possibly imagine. The universe as anyone knows it is only a tiny part of a greater multiverse, like the relationship between stars and galaxies. But even that isn't the limit of reality - the Metaverse is a vast, possibly infinite collection of multiverses. All worlds we know exist in but one multiverse.
It's called Dogoza.
Dogoza and Dogodi
Dogoza, the multiverse as we know it, is infinitely vast and varied. However, despite this, it has a sister multiverse, an equally-sized collection of universes called Dogodi. Whether these two multiverses are almost exactly the same or complete opposites is up for intense debate. Almost everyone who exists in Dogoza also exists as a copy in Dogodi, but... different. Good is bad. Right is wrong. Nice is mean. Everyone's personality and role in life is the exact opposite in Dogodi of what it would be in Dogoza. Dogodi is Bizarro Dogoza, and Dogoza is Bizarro Dogodi.
G.O.D
There is a being, likely one of many of its kind, of unknowable power and incomprehensible mind, so far separated from human thought that it's impossible to even try to understand it. In conversation, it introduces itself as G.O.D. If asked what this stands for, it usually explains that it stands for "G.O.D Over Dogoza". If asked what that G.O.D stands for, it usually replies "G.O.D Over Dogodi". Sometimes the order is the other way around, but you'll never get to the bottom of the acronym.
More notably, G.O.D is the proprietor of two multiverses - Dogoza and Dogodi, of course. However, some things are universal among all species. G.O.D's operation is suffering from severe financial failures, and it's been faced with a tough decision: Current funding does not allow it to support both multiverses, so one of them is going to have to go.
The Competition
This is where you come in! As what it somehow determined to be the best way to decide, G.O.D has started pulling people in from both Dogoza and Dogodi into a small pocket dimension between the two. Those chosen are to act as representatives of their multiverse, and a series of complex and confusing competitions and challenges are what follows. By winning, people can earn points for their multiverse, tracked by a huge scoreboard in the center of the dimension. If either multiverse's score pulls too far ahead of the other's score, then the competition will come to a close, and the losing multiverse will be annihilated. This is complicated by two key points: Nobody knows the score requirement, and nobody knows the rules but G.O.D.
Of course, there's always the rumor that this is all being monitored and recorded in front of a pan-dimensional live studio audience as a last desperate bid to raise funds to save both multiverses... but that's just a rumor.
The Setting
The pocket dimension, called D, is about the size of New York, an not too different in structure. It's a city, filled with people from Dogoza and Dogodi, most of them just normal people brought in to give the place a bit of liveliness. Only the chosen representatives - you - can score points for their multiverse.
The city of D is huge, sprawling, and strange. Tech level varies between about 1900 and 2400 depending on where you go. On average, it's about equivalent to modern day, but one block over, they might barely have functioning cars, and one block past that the cars are all flying. The masses seem to take it in stride. I don't really have much more worked out about D.
The Events
There are two kinds of events: Normal Events and Versus Events. It is never (ICly? OOCly?) clear which events are which. Normal events are traditional RP nonsense - genderswaps, antigravity, bears, and so on. Versus events are competitions held on large scale between Dogoza and Dogodi. These could be fighting tournaments, cooking battles, CHILDREN'S CARD GAMES, poetry contests, rock paper scissors, poker. These can be handwaved offscreen or logged out dramatically, but any victories by individuals will add to the GRAND SCOREBOARD at the center of D for their multiverse. In reality, since only G.O.D knows the scoring system, the points will fluctuate more or less at random, but in keeping with people who do awesome things generally getting more awesome points.
That's the basic idea. Thoughts?
