Let's Play Umineko, Episode 2 Scene 11: The Banquet
<< | ^^ | >>

BGM: Red Dread

Krauss, Natsuhi, Eva, Hideyoshi, Rudolf and Kyrie are all dead. No, not just dead - they were massacred.

Roda orders Genji and Shannon to contact Kinzo. Gohda and Kanon are to go and call the police. Then, Nanjo is to come here.

Back at the mansion...

The cousins are mostly just confused. Maria is upset because someone took her letter from Beatrice.

Battler remembers that, before Maria woke up, Rosa came to get something from Maria's bag.

The atmosphere is strange. The cousins haven't encountered a single person today.

There's Nanjo! Who has no idea what's going on.
Someone's coming from down the hall - looks like Gohda and Kanon.

Battler and his compatriots quickly figure out that something is wrong.
Nanjo is called outside. The cousins chase after him.

Rokkenjima

What Battler feels is as much rage as it is anguish. He feels an overwhelming need to find the one responsible and make them pay.
If he has enough time to cry, he has time to think instead.

Jessica is positive that it's Beatrice - the 19th guest. She runs out, and Rosa sends Kanon and Gohda to restrain her.
After all, there's no proof that Beatrice did this.

Battler has still never seen this alleged 19th person. She might not even exist!

Ever since the typhoon began, Battler has been drawn deeper and deeper into an insane world of witches and murders.
Rokkenjima is a closed room. The laws of common sense no longer apply here.

At the crime scene is another letter. It's addressed 'to those who remain'.

It's the letter from Beatrice, same as last time, announcing her intent. Solve the epitaph, or die.
Just then, George notices something else on the table. Hidden in plain sight, gone unnoticed due to the horror of the rest of the display.

The gold is real.

17 hours, 17 minutes remain

Kanon and Gohda try to keep Jessica from barging into the VIP room. She's still convinced that Beatrice is the culprit, beyond any doubt.

Jessica pounds at the door and screams, but there is no reply.
It's locked, of course. Jessica demands a master key, and Kanon complies, giving his to her.

But the room is empty. The bed shows signs of use, but nobody is here.

The only people who have seen the 19th guest are Rosa, Maria, Kyrie, Genji, Kanon and Shannon.
Kanon knows what kind of creature was staying in this room. Because he's thinking about Beatrice's ways instead of searching for her body, he finds it first.

Kanon points out the message, and Jessica snatches it away to read it. After reading it, she crumples it up and throws it in a rage, then starts tearing the room apart.

What the letter said was this:

The instant the interior stand she was swinging around to wreck the room is taken away rom her, Jessica collapses in tears and anguish.

Jessica screams and cries until she has another asthma attack. She wants blood.

For the first time since he arrived at Rokkenjima, Gohda trusts Kanon to handle a task.

Eventually, Jessica makes it back to her room.

After Jessica's had a moment to recover, Kanon excuses himself and waits in the corridor.

So she asks, but Kanon won't let her stay alone. He'll be right outside, ready to come in if she needs anything at all.
With that, he closes the door, more sure than ever that he is mere furniture, incapable of understanding human sadness.

The third way is to betray their hopes. In this way, Kanon is the one person in the world most capable of wounding Jessica.
However, Beatrice isn't just here to taunt. She's here on business.
