Let's Play Umineko no Naku Koro ni: Review

<< | ^^ | >>

Rules Change
Use of the Blue Truth has been permitted.
If somebody makes a statement in blue that challenges the other side's position, the other side is obligated to either deny it in red, or accept the claim.
If the claim does not challenge the other side, the other side does not need to deny the statement, in red or otherwise.

The Death of Kinzo
Kinzo Ushiromiya is dead at the beginning of every game.
No more than 17 humans exist on Rokkenjima in every game.
No unknown extra person exists.

Episode 1: Legend of the Golden Witch
Original Review
Additional Red from Beatrice:
The identities of all unidentified corpses are guaranteed.
Eva and Hideyoshi were killed by other people. Neither of them committed suicide. The murderer and victim were in the same room.
No human or dead person on the island could have killed Kanon.
Kanon did not commit suicide.
Maria did not kill Genji, Kumasawa or Nanjo. However, they did die due to homicide.
Natsuhi was killed by another person. All survivors had alibis.
The bullet that killed Natsuhi was not fired from Natsuhi's gun.
Additional Red from Lambdadelta:
Kanon did not die in an accident.
Genji, Kumasawa, and Nanjo are not killers.
The thing that shot Natsuhi wasn't a trap, it was a real shooting murder with a gun raised and trigger pulled.

Episode 2: Turn of the Golden Witch
Original Review
Additional Red from Beatrice:
From the time Maria received her key to the instant Rosa unsealed the envelope the next day, the key passed through no one's hands.
No door with an auto-lock exists other than Kinzo's study.
The first six victims were already dead by the time they were discovered. All were killed by other people. All six were genuine victims, and did not take part in a mutual murder.
There was no one hiding in the chapel.
The people who saw Kanon after his death would definitely not mistake any different person for Kanon.
All of the master keys were under Rosa's control.
Additional Red from Lambdadelta:
When the six were killed in the chapel, the culprit was inside the chapel.
The only one who can claim Kanon's name is the person himself. A different person cannot claim his name.
After the master keys came into Rosa's control, never did any of them leave her hands, except for the time when she lent it to Battler to unlock Natsuhi's room.

Episode 3: Banquet of the Golden Witch
Original Review
Additional Red from Beatrice:
George did not go down the stairs of the guest house.
For the First Twilight, all five master keys were discovered, each in the pocket of one of the servants. The individual keys were found inside envelopes alongside the corpses. The keys cannot be returned from outside the room using the crack of the door, the crack of the window, vents or any place of the sort.
All six victims had wounds resembling gunshot wounds, which became fatal. It is impossible for the murder to have taken place from outside the room.
When the five other than Kinzo were murdered, the murderer was definitely in the same room. There were no suicides.

Episode 4: Alliance of the Golden Witch

The First Twilight
The victims were Natsuhi, Rudolf, Eva, Hideyoshi, Genji, and Rosa.
Battler found all the victims in the dining room. Each had half of their head destroyed, an injury that is impossible to survive.
After the crime, Krauss, Kyrie, Kanon, Shannon and Nanjo fell into an underground prison beneath Kuwadorian. Only 10 minutes elapsed.
Before the murders, all people present saw and recognized the existence of Kinzo.

The Second Twilight
The victims were George and Jessica.
George was found in the arbor in the rose garden. There was a hole in his forehead, as if shot or stabbed.
Jessica was found in her room in the mansion. The door was locked, and half of her head had been destroyed.
Before Jessica died, she called Battler, and told him that George died instantly, and that her head would be half-destroyed when she died.
There's no way Jessica could have seen George's situation so clearly from her room if he died in the arbor.

The Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Twilights
The victims were Kyrie, Krauss, Shannon, Kanon and Nanjo.
Shannon and Kanon were found next to an old well behind the mansion. Each had half their head smashed, and had a stake next to their body.
Krauss was found out behind the mansion. Half his head was destroyed, and a stake was in the wound.
Kyrie was found in a guest room in the mansion. A stake was buried in her head, and the room was locked.
Before Kyrie died, she called Battler and described a wide variety of impossible events.
Kanon's body was never found.
Kanon is dead.
Kanon was the first of this group to die. In other words, he was the ninth victim.

The Ninth Twilight
The victims were Maria, Gohda and Kumasawa.
Maria appears to have been poisoned. Her body was found in the dining room, next to Rosa's.
Gohda and Kumasawa were shot, then hung by rope. Both of them were inside the garden shed, which was locked.
The garden shed key was in Gohda's pocket.

Battler's Sin
Beatrice appeared before Battler at the mansion. She demanded that he remember and atone for his sin.
Six years ago, no person called Beatrice existed for Battler.
The sin Beatrice demands Battler remember is not between Ushiromiya Battler and Beatrice.
Ushiromiya Battler has a sin.
Because of his sin, people die.
Nobody escapes, all die.

Battler's Qualifications
The opponent qualified to face Beatrice is Kinzo's grandson, Ushiromiya Battler.
The player's name is Ushiromiya Battler.
Ushiromiya Battler's mother is Ushiromiya Asumu.
It was not from Ushiromiya Asumu that Battler was born.

The Last Mystery
"Ushiromiya Battler. I will now kill you.
Right now, the only one alive on this island is you.
Nothing outside the island can interfere.
I am not you, yet I am here now, and will kill you.

Who am I?"

The Tenth Twilight
Battler was alone on the island.
Battler left the game board.

Parting Hints
In all four games, although accomplices may change, the identity and motivation of the culprit are fixed.
Any scene told from the perspective of the detective can be verified as reliable evidence.
With everything that has been presented so far, it should be possible to solve all the mysteries.

Without love, it cannot be seen.

Game Result
When the seagulls cried, there were no survivors.

Questions to Consider
Who is Beatrice?
Why is she doing this?
What is Battler's sin?
