Let's Play Umineko Chiru, Episode 5 Scene 15: The Assault on the Study
<< | ^^ | >>

30 seconds have passed since Rudolf reached the window. Kinzo isn't responding. Looks like there's nothing to do but break it open.

Rudolf wrestles his way off the ladder and into the study. The enemy's keep has been breached at last.

BGM: Witch of the Painting

Nobody on the bed, no body heat. The room is cold.
It feels like a room that's been empty for a long time.

It's not totally devoid of hints of life, either. Rudolf's best guess is that Kinzo's been gone for several hours.

Natsuhi and the others immediately pour in through the now-open door.

It seems like Kinzo must have wandered off some time between 11 PM last night and just now. That's something he might do, isn't it?

Natsuhi objects to the ransacking of Kinzo's precious study. Erika is the one to reply to that objection.

...So it seems, but Erika was speaking to the room at large. She just happened to be standing in front of Natsuhi when she said it.
Right?

BGM: Smile-less Soiree
Kyrie and the others return from the courtyard. Everyone is in the study now.

No sign of Kinzo. Was he caught up in the mass murders?

If anyone would go on a stroll in the middle of the murder-filled night, it would be Kinzo.
Stay calm. Kinzo's existence is a Devil's Proof at the moment.

In the physical world, Erika claps her hands to get everyone's attention.
That's a bit presumptuous for a guest, but the authority of the detective allows her to lead the conversation.

They didn't find any evidence of Kinzo's existence in this room.

Natsuhi visiting Kinzo is unconfirmed. There was no witness other than Kinzo himself, who is missing.
Erika's actually hoping Natsuhi isn't the culprit. She's so obvious that it would be a big letdown.

Think back to this morning, after the murders occurred. Everyone went to call Kinzo, but he wouldn't answer the phone.

Erika postulates that that question was Kyrie's deliberate trap. Well done, Kyrie.

How did Natsuhi know that nobody met Kinzo after she did?

But she does have a reason! She saw Kinzo off to bed, so it stands to reason that he wouldn't have met anyone overnight.

Natsuhi herself described Kinzo as a fickle person who might leave the room at any moment. So, that argument doesn't hold, either.

Erika's chief goal here is to establish Natsuhi's innocence, to make sure that this mystery will be worthwhile.

Natushi strikes back! She wasn't alone - Eva was there when she left the room, so there WAS a witness!

Eva's not done, though. She's ready to use her trump card. The thing that everyone's been suspecting since before day one...

BGM: Deep Blue Jeer

Everyone else comes forward with their suspicions. Kinzo is already dead. Natsuhi's been embezzling funds. It all fits together!

Gohda lets slip as an addendum that he hasn't seen Kinzo once since he was hired, though. Whoops.
