Let's Play Umineko Chiru, Episode 5 Scene 14: The First Skirmish

<< | ^^ | >>

BGM: Dead Angle

All of us moved together. So you're trying to say that everyone had alibis?
Your reasoning goes like this, right? The four of them weren't actually dead, they were just playing dead. Then, when no one else was around, they hid somewhere. Am I right?
You don't intend to proclaim any of their deaths in red now, do you?
Of course I won't. Unlike that dolt Beato, I don't give red out for free!
In that case, I'll be glad to use the blue truth. I can think of many ways to work around something of this level.
Sure, go ahead! Blue truth time!

Ahaha! Even if you've been shown their gaping wounds, you're still trying that one on principle as long as there's no red, right?! But don't get your hopes up. I'm not giving you a freebie red truth! After all, I just have to deny it all at once at the end of the game, at midnight on October 5th! Ah, the witch's side has such a big advantage! It'd all be over now if that stupid Battler was my opponent, but you aren't like that, right, Bern?!
Of course. Anyone could have thoguht of that silly move. I have more. Second one: Krauss carried the corpses off and hid them. You've acted it out so that it looks like you've kidnapped Krauss and locked him up somewhere, but he might actually be free. Krauss has no alibi. Krauss hid the corpses.
Yeah, that's right. It's not like I proclaimed that Krauss was being confined with the red truth. Hehehehehe! You know how they say you've got to confuse your friends before you can confuse your enemies! So he lied to Natsuhi, making it seem like he'd been captured! Eheheheheheheh! Any others?!
Third one: The corpses were different people in the first place. They were substitute corpses, just like the victims. George and the others were hiding from the beginning, and later cleared up those substitute corpses. These corpses were dead from the very beginning, so they don't count towards the number of people on the island.
Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! That's messed up! So even though all those gathered around and saw their dead faces, none of them realized that they were substitute corpses?
Since you haven't used the red truth, there's a possibility that everyone misidentified all of the corpses. Though if you feel like repeating 'no one would misidentify a person', I'll withdraw that claim immediately, okay?
No waaaay! I'm not falling for that provocation! The red truth is only useful if you use it with flash, right? I'll take a single truth out of a large pile of blue and smash it with the red! Then, the rest of the blue truths will be swallowed up by darkness before you can find out whether they were right or wrong! That darkness is the world of witches! You won't be given any truth at all! Ehheheheheheheheheheheh!

Three blue strikes against a single riddle. Removing them won't be easy.

Battler's battles were so sluggish. This promises to be much more fun!

Gaap appears out of a rift to check out the situation. Sorry, Genji, but you can still be of use to the head.

The one responsible for this attack is an entity on the same level as Gaap or Ronove. Maybe even higher.

Genji's corpse, along with the other four, has vanished into a realm humans cannot reach. Nobody will be able to confirm their deaths, and then they will become suspects.

The humans are returning to the mansion. Time to disperse!

After they come to terms with Genji's disappearance, the family will try to break into the study. Fortunately, Natsuhi has both of the keys.

The Three Kingdoms were all destroyed, though.

Lucifer reports that the humans are advancing on Lord Goldsmith's study.

October 5th, 8:04 AM
15 hours, 56 minutes remain

Kinzo isn't responding to knocking, and he isn't picking up the phone, either. Sounds like he's in one of his moods.

The last person to see Kinzo was Natsuhi, last night, shortly before Battler found the gold. around 11 PM.

According to Kanon, both keys are inside the study. This door cannot be opened.

Natsuhi continues to try to defend the room, but it only makes her look more suspicious. Why is she trying to keep everyone out?

Erika theorizes that, if it's following the epitaph, then there will be more deaths. 13 in total.

If this contniues, it will set a record in the mystery genre.

BGM: Smile-less Soiree

Whoops.

But wait! Erika objects. The number of victims was the same in both books, right? So her answer is still correct!

Well, that's understandable. The crimes in Zodiac took place in 1936, right? That must have gotten her confused, right? Aaaaahhihihihihihihhhyahyahahahahaaah!

Nonsense, Battler replies. 'I read books' isn't something a person who only reads a hundred or so a year should say lightly.

What? Oh right, the murders. The topic returns to Kinzo's study.

Much to the annoyance of the more in-the-know servants, Gohda mentions that there's a ladder in the boiler room that should be long enough.

Gohda is bravely volunteered by the family to be the one to make the climb. To the courtyard!

In the end, Gohda claimed knee troubles, and was replaced by Rudolf.

This is as long as Natsuhi can defend the study.

That won't do. No matter what, Kinzo must live through this ordeal!

But how will he escape? Eva's group is by the door, and Rudolf's group is guarding the window. All exits have been cut off.

For now, Kinzo can hide in the study. Time for everyone to scatter, right?

Strategically speaking, Beato should fall back here, and let Gaap handle the defenses. However, wouldn't that just be too boring?

Gaap is Beato's friend. Erika is a terrifyingly powerful enemy, and Beato can't expose her friend to that danger.

Gaap and Ronove disperse, and Kinzo hides under the bed.

The battle for the study begins.
