Zero Mission Chapter 7: Seriously, Why All the Worms

I'm in the upper regions of Kraid's lair!
My goal is right next to what can only be Kraid's room, at the very bottom.

No new abilities, but I got two Energy Tanks and two Missile Tanks, bumping my item rate to 20%.

Outside the save room is a quick downward U-Turn!

This room will be made nicer by the rails being active!
I'll just zip across, and...

MINIBOSS FIGHT
Mua

Mua spends most of the battle lurking at the bottom of the acid lake, being unhurtable.
Then, with a twitch of its teeth for warning...

It lashes out!
If I evade with the rail, it briefly gets stuck against that block. Now it's vulnerable!

For the few seconds it's stuck here, I pound it in the weak point with missiles.

Then, it's back into the acid to lurk.

And the pattern repeats! This really is a fairly simple fight.
If I had fewer missiles, it's also vulnerable to normal shots, but these do more damage and Mua has a ton of HP.

Occasionally, he raises the acid level for a few seconds!
This can be easily evaded by jumping up to the highest blocks.

If I dodge all the way out to this area instead, Mua fires some purple orbs to attack! They can be shot down to recover energy or missiles.

As his health gets low, Mua gets faster!
He's almost dead.

There we go!
The acid drains out of the room now that Mua is slain.

And then, we will bomb the floor out from beneath him!

The wall on the far left can be broken open...

Tada!

Leaving the room takes me out here! Time to head back into central Kraid.

Whee, rails!
This room is way faster now.

And we have a sliight detour to make on the way back!

No surprises on the way back through here...

And back to the central shaft!
Let's explore downwards.

I sense Morph Ball puzzles ahead!

Fun fact!
Morph balls can ride the rails, too.

If I had traveled normally, I'd have to shoot these down as I go!

I could go up, but that floor setup with the single-tile floor followed by the acid with the enemy floating in it just seems suspicious as hell.

Surprise! The acid was an illusion.
DOWNWARD


Wow!
That was quite a fall.

I could go for the red hatch here, but... something else here looks suspicious.

Hole in the floor!

New mystery block! I can't destroy it, so I have to keep bombing my way down.

They're even embedded in the ceiling!

I can't even get to this item because of these mystery blocks!
...wait a minute...

I think I see the way in!

Infiltration successful!

Analysis inconclusive. Item incompatible with current suit.

Like the last Unknown Item, this allows me to clear out the second type of mystery block!

Now I can escape through the ceiling, and return to Kraid's Lair proper.

The next hallway is full of bugs, both hopping and flying!
They have a lot of health, so going is slow.

A bit faster - I remember that a single charge shot can take out a flying bug!
