Let's Play ADOM: The Revenge
<< | ^^ | >>
So I'm abandoning the Metroid LP as not really fitting the format well. Time for a new project!

ADOM is a brutally, relentlessly difficult and unforgiving roguelike RPG released in 1994 by Thomas Biskup. It is about an adventure into the heart of the mysterious Drakalor Chain to find and put an end to the source of the corruption spreading across the world!
I will be using Save Scumming (creating backup saves to cheat death) and a variety of other strategies to increase my chances of getting as far as possile. I don't expect to ever actually win, even with this, as I have never actually beaten this game.
So! Time to meet our contestants for my first character (I'll be doing two):
@
Gnomish Elementalist
Elementalists are powerful spellcasters that rely on instinct rather than study, attaining spells naturally as they increase in power. They can sling out huge amounts of destructive power in the forms of fire, ice, lightning and acid. I've chosen Gnome for the race because they have good Toughness, a desirable trait for casters in the early game.
Early Game Survivability: B-
Late Game Survivability: B+
@
Drakeling Beastfighter
Beastfighters are brutal hand-to-hand combat specialists. At higher levels, their attunement with the wild allow them to call wild animals to fight by their side, but their true power is the destructive capacities of their fists and feet. I've chosen Drakeling for the race because they can spit acid at people for a ranged attack.
Early Game Survivability: A-
Late Game Survivability: C
@
Troll Healer
Healers are a defense-oriented combat class that is nearly impossible to stop with brute force. Not using magic inherently, they excel in first aid and natural healing. Trolls have inherent health regeneration as well, making this combination nigh indestructibble.
Early Game Survivability: S
Late Game Survivability: B
@
Hurthling Archer
Archers excel in not just archery, as the name would imply, but in all missile combat, allowing them to slay enemies at a great distance. Hurthlings (hobbits) are exceptional for their incredible skill with thrown rocks, turning the common item into a devastating weapon.
Early Game Survivability: A
Late Game Survivability: C
@
Dwarven Priest
Priests are powerful servants of the gods, capable of fighting both with divine magic and with strength of arms. While they lack the fury and inherent magic of elementalists, Priests have the ability to identify blessed and cursed items at a glance.
Early Game Survivability: B
Late Game Survivability: A
