Beatrice offers her congratulations to Bernkastel, the "powerless" witch who was able to dethrone the great witch Lambdadelta.

Lambdadelta is a witch of probability. She can make something improbable, but never impossible.

Bernkastel, meanwhile, has the reverse ability - so long as the possibility of an outcome isn't zero, she can make it happen without fail.

Bernkastel is here because she's bored. She heard that Beatrice had started an interesting new game, and will stay to observe for as long as she is entertained.

To an immortal witch, boredom is the deadliest of poisons.

Beatrice's game is one of zeroes. It's a game that Bernkastel can't win with her power.

Beatrice trumps Bernkastel.
Bernkastel trumps Lambdadelta.
And maybe, just maybe, Lambdadelta trumps Beatrice.

Beatrice is already preparing the second chessboard.
