Let's Play Umineko, Episode 2 Scene 7: The Extra Guest
<< | ^^ | >>

Ushiromiya Kyrie
Rudolf's second wife. She had already worked alongside him for some time before the death of his first wife, at which time she openly took the position of his wife.
She has served as Rudolf's right hand in several shady pieces of business, guiding them to success. She is quick-thinking and well-trusted by her husband.

Beatrice is back!
Genji reports that Kinzo is well. Despite Nanjo's diagnosis that he has little time left to live, he shows no signs of slowing down.

BGM: Fishy Aroma
This guest is the perfect image of the person in the portrait. Aside from the clothes, that is.
No, wait.

Those match as well.

Kyrie plays it cool. Whoever this is, they're clearly an important guest.

Beatrice and Genji depart to the second floor, and then Natsuhi arrives. She doesn't seem particularly interested in the story of the witch, nor does she seem inclined to believe any of it is real.
Kyrie retires to her room. She's getting a headache.

Kinzo sought to cage Beatrice, but in the end, he only caged himself.
Beatrice goes to open the door, but...

The sigil of the scorpion repels magic. Even Beatrice can't get through this door.
Genji offers to open it for her, but Beatrice declines.

After all, they aren't here to meet like ordinary humans. They're here to play a game.
Only through the game's resolution can they meet again.

35 hours remain

Kanon enters the so-called VIP room.
Kinzo had ordered this room to be kept clean and ready for use at all times, but never allowed anyone to use it. Now, it houses the most important guest of all.

As if reading Kanon's mind, Beatrice just laughs.

BGM: Organ Short No. 600 Million in C Minor

Kanon's silence is a small and futile act of resistance. Beatrice can read his mind easily.
She is here, of course, to resolve her contract with Kinzo. She gave him the gold, and now she will take it back with interest.

Kanon has no idea what Beatrice is talking about. He does know one thing, though:
Anything that can make her laugh will spell nothing but disaster for Rokkenjima.

She also lent Shannon the power to love. Will that now be collected with interest?

The day has come when all shall be returned to the Golden Land.
And so shall end Kanon's days a furniture.

Kanon's thoughts are, of course, complicated. Beatrice is disappointed, though - furniture with no regrets makes for unimpressive entertainment. The stakes are too low.

But does he really have no regrets?
What Jessica wanted was beyond furniture's rights. To think of her now speaks to Kanon's own weakness.
Shannon has been revelling in emotions not permitted to furniture. Today will be painful for her, since she still has regrets.

Kanon formally thanks Beatrice for bringing the day of release to the mansion's humble furniture.

In a way, this is also the witch's trap. Shannon's regret has become Kanon's regret.
Now, both of them are ensnared in the game.

Beatrice gives Kanon a choice.
He can kneel, and kiss her shoe, and he will be released from his duty tonight.
Or he can refuse, and Beatrice will leave Rokkenjima and never return.

Can he pass that up? Can he resist the siren call of freedom?

The epitaph is a threat. On the second twilight, the two who are close are offered as sacrifices.
The most obvious pair right now are Shannon and George.

If Kanon kneels, Shannon will be spared from being a sacrifice.

For Shannon.
Kanon kneels, and kisses the shoe of the Golden Witch.

Elsewhere in the mansion, lunch is just ending.

The cousins enjoy killing time together.
Battler has had a long day of not getting murdered by boats and airplanes, and just wants to rest a bit.

He's very important to this conference, but Battler remains inactive. It's not his turn yet.

Jessica and George have no idea what he's going on about.
But, how could they?

BGM: Golden Sneer

It's because your argument regarding 18 or 19 people, which you use to deny me, is truly humorous! The greatest basis upon which you deny me is simply because I was not laid out as a piece on the game board. Doing this is nothing more than showing you the queen first! Isn't that a standard opening in chess?
Q... Quit playing around... There's no way I can accept something like this! A witch came in, right through the entrance hall?! Don't mess with me!
What's this? In the last game, I let you make your moves terribly freely, right? This time, I am doing nother more than anticipating your moves and moving my own pieces. Will you give in after the first move?
You... You bastard... Don't mess with me! Nobody's gonna give in! Great move, why don't you just move however you like?
So your turn is far from over. Move however you like! Form a huge battle formation while you still can. I will defy you. I will definitely corner you! Give me your best shot, I don't want you to have any excuses!
But Rosa saw the moment when the candy split into butterflies, right?
I don't know about that! That was a hallucination, or a trick, or she just saw it wrong! This isn't a big problem!
Hahaha! So you throw out the part you can't explain as trivial? I see, is that your move in response to mine?
You've really put your foot in it, Ushiromiya Battler... fuhahahahahahahahahahaha! It's not your turn yet. Allow me to make my move for a little longer. It has barely begun, the Turn of the Witch!<< | ^^ | >>
