Let's Play Umineko, Episode 2 Final Scene: The Witch's Victory
<< | ^^ | >>

Rosa isn't putting down the gun for one second, so it falls to Battler to move the sofa they were using to barricade the door. Strictly unnecessary, of course, but Rosa couldn't possibly know that there are only five master keys.

Rosa checks the locks on all of the parlor windows one more time. They are still locked.

It's the seventh and eighth twilights.
Nanjo and Kumasawa are here, their throats cut.

The stakes, are predicted. The ritual is nearly complete.

That leaves them three short.
Who were the other sacrifices?

BGM: Mind

Natsuhi's door is covered in red handprints, as if someone was clawing or forcing their way in.
They decide to enter, already knowing what they'll find. However, the door is locked.

The door is locked. Rosa, who had all five master keys, lends one to Battler, who opens the door.

On the fourth twilight, gouge the head and kill.
On the fifth twilight, gouge the chest and kill.
On the sixth twilight, gouge the stomach and kill.

All three of them meet the conditions. Shannon is the fourth, Gohda the fifth, George the sixth.

The ritual is complete. Now everyone will die, and the door to the Golden Land will open.
The winners of the demon's roulette are Battler, Rosa, Genji, Maria and Kinzo.

But this group doesn't deserve the Golden Land.

Natsuhi's key was inside the room. Now Rosa has it, along with all five master keys.
This is another closed room.

The group retires to the parlor. However, Rosa forbids Genji to enter.

Genji was a much easier target, being by himself, then Shannon, George and Gohda together. Why did he survive?
Is there any answer beyond Genji being one of the wolves?

Genji accepts his fate once more, and leaves. Rosa locks the parlor.
She checks all the locks again. Does it matter at this point?

Battler rests his feet on the table, but when he does, he notices something there.

Rosa had all the keys. Everyone was together the whole time.
And yet, another letter has appeared.

Battler opens the letter. The first page is the final magic circle. The second page is a message.

Rosa comes to her final conclusion. She's figured it out.

BGM: Nighteyes
Battler is the wolf.

He's the only one who could have placed that letter there.
She doesn't want to believe that Battler is a demon who would kill his own parents, but what if he didn't think of them as his parents?
Battler disappeared for six years, then suddenly returned. What if he's not who he claims to be?

Battler makes an objection. George was dead, locked in Natsuhi's room. George held the key to that room. Rosa held every master key.
If Battler is the culprit, then how would he have managed that?

The game of wolves and sheep is over. Nobody here can be proven to be a sheep.
Everyone is a wolf. Everyone is the culprit.
Purgatorio

Rokkenjima

Neither of them has any proof. So, both of them are the wolf. All they can do is shout accusations back and forth.

There's no choice left. Either they tear each other apart, or they accept the truth.

Rosa isn't the culprit.
Battler isn't the culprit.

Battler surrenders his authority as detective. He's lost this game.
Witches? Magic? From now on, anything is fair game. Bring it on.

In the study, Kinzo awakens. Two hours remain.

Kinzo wavers between determination, rage, and misery. His life nears its end.
And as he cries, a single golden butterfly appears.

He doesn't see it.

Kinzo arranges the chess board to the state of a much older game. If he waits, maybe his opponent will make a move.
But she won't. Not like this.

Because without love, it cannot be seen.

There is a knock at the door.

Could it be? Is it Beatrice?

October 5th, 1986, 11:30 PM
30 minutes remain

Battler, having abandoned his duty, sits alone in the dining hall. He hasn't even locked the doors.

There is a knock at the door.

Rambling drunkenly, he invites them in. It's Genji.

Genji can now tell Battler everything. After all, the ritual is over.
The answers wait for him in Kinzo's study.

Genji and Battler rise to the third floor.
All he has to do from now on is accept whatever he sees.

The study is locked. However, while Genji gave Rosa the master key, he kept the study key for himself.
The door opens.

BGM: Black Lilliana

Kinzo is here, and he's playing chess with a second person.

Beatrice has resumed her game, after being gone for 30 years. Now, she's back.

Question after question pours out of Battler. What happened here, and why? How were the closed rooms accomplished? Why is Beatrice here? What is she after?

Beatrice will answer everything, but if he accepts her after hearing the answers, he must submit to her for all time.

GAME OVER
