Let's Play Umineko, Episode 2: Tea Party

<< | ^^ | >>

Rosa awakens in an unfamiliar mansion. Tea has been prepared for her.

Golden butterflies drift through the room.

Beatrice is talking to her, but she's in such a daze that she can't tell what the witch is saying. Something about being allowed any reward she desires.

With a wave of her pipe, Beatrice fills the room with gold ingots. An unimaginable fortune.

However, there are some things that gold can't bring back.

Beatrice looks into Rosa's soul. Her pain is one of being cursed with a cruel fate since birth.

Well, surely something can be done, with the power of a witch.

BGM: Daydream's End

Krauss was always very cruel to Rosa, treating her as if she needed to be punished even when she'd done nothing.

So, she always hated Krauss.

Eva was always very cruel to Rosa, tricking and lying and making her seem stupid.

So, she always hated Eva.

Rudolf was always very cruel to Rosa, clinging to Krauss and Eva and filling whatever role was needed when one or the other was missing. He was bullied by the older siblings, so he bullied her twice as much.

So, she always hated Rudolf.

To become an adult is to separate yourself from the memories of childhood. In other words, it's something Rosa could never do.

That is the pain Beatrice sees in Rosa's heart.

So, how to fix it? Turning back time and removing her cruel past wouldn't do, because then she wouldn't remember that life. She would have no way of appreciating the favor.

Healing is the pleasure earned from withstanding pain.

Rosa isn't sure what to think. At first, it seems like a simple meal has no way of atoning for so much pain.

But this is a special meal. A witch's banquet that goes on forever and ever.

Rosa is still unable to move, so the goats happily feed her. First is an apertif of German-made wine cocktail with a special ingredient.

What is it called?

BGM: Black Lilliana

The Golden Drop is a term coming from black tea. It is the last drop, having absorbed all the flavor that remains, and is the most precious drop.

Let's see where this Golden Drop came from, why don't we?

Beatrice is a witch. With her power, she can revive the dead endlessly.

Again and again, she can extract the precious last drop of Krauss's blood.

The wine Rosa is being fed was once white. Now, it's red.

Just how many last drops are needed for that?

Rosa tries to resist, but she is powerless against the goats as they pour the wine down her throat.

The banquet is only beginning.

The salad has five tongues. A normal person could only harvest one, but Beatrice is an all-powerful witch.

And there's still one more dish. Aren't you excited for dessert, Rosa?

And so Rosa will finally be set free.

Maria is happy to be eaten. Her mother's behavior has taught her again and again that she's a bad child.

She apologizes to Rosa for having been born. If she can be delicious in death, maybe her mother will be happy she exists, just once.

Rosa protests wildly, but there's only one way to stop this endless banquet of torment.

BGM: Dread of the Grave

Now I feel like eating a whole roast witch! And Maria - it's ten years too early for you to talk about having someone eat you!

Fuhahahahahahaha, how vigorous! I like it! I wouldn't have it any other way! I wouldn't have you any other way, Battler! Try to deny me, I'll completely and thoroughly smash you to bits! Let me make you surrender over and over again. I'll teach you, one who has licked my shoes, the taste of defeat over and over again!
No problem. I'll teach you that I, Ushiromiya Battler, am a man who'll stand back up even after crawling in the mud! I've never had the experience of being invincible. I've lost many times. But I'll definitely crawl in the mud and stand up again. Then I'll finish this! In a man's fight, you don't lose until you accept defeat, no matter how much you get beat up!

I'll accept your challenge, Ushiromiya Battler! Furniture, begin preparations for the next game! While we're waiting, why don't you tell me all about it? There were a lot of closed rooms in this game. Using red, I've smashed to bits most of the methods by which you tried to talk yourself out. What other evasive quibbles will you show me now?! The lock to the chapel, the lock to Jessica's room, the lock to the servant room, the lock to Natsuhi's room, the lock to the parlor! Use your bizarre specialty, those delusions, rantings, daydreams, and bluffs, all slanted with ridiculous, incredible turns of events, and show how you can thoroughly deny meeeee!
Aaah, it's useless, it's all useleeeessss!
