Campaign Recruitment: Trust Precure
What’s all this then?
Trust Precure is a tabletop RPG campaign I will be running in the near future based on the Precure franchise!
What’s a Precure?
Precure is short for Pretty Cure, and it’s a long-running series of magical girl animes about teenagers having karate fights with huge, doofy monsters while experiencing clinically hazardous levels of friendship. The game will run in a similar vein, but with an original plot, cast and setting.
What’s the premise?
Exemplar , the magical kingdom of truth, was invaded by the dark kingdom of Deception! Amidst the chaos, one member of the royal family, Prince Juste, escaped to a world called Earth, carrying one of Exemplar’s greatest magical artifacts. Bringing with him five fairies and no useful skills of his own, he searches for the prophesized legendary warriors who will save his kingdom, while the forces of Deception draw ever nearer.
From a player standpoint, the campaign is about a group of girls living in the fictional town of Keohoa, Hawaii, in the year 2014, who are drawn into a ridiculous double life of magical superheroics and the world of the mundane. Themes will include trust, secrets, seeking the truth, comedic karate laser battles, and the bonds of friendship.
What’s the system?
Fate: Accelerated Edition! It’s like regular Fate, but even MORE streamlined. Approaches instead of Skills mean that you can do anything well if you can figure out how to do it in an idiom that your character favors. A single Stress Track measures both physical and mental damage. I did a writeup of how to play it here.
What do I need to know about Precure?
Having seen any appreciable amount of the franchise is optional! Style-wise, just look up an OP or two on Youtube and you should have a pretty good idea of what to expect. The genre conventions to keep in mind:
I want in! What do I do?

From all who do that, I will use a variety of mysterious factors to select up to five players for our party, and the game will begin at an undetermined time in the not-too-distant future.

Having seen any appreciable amount of the franchise is optional! Style-wise, just look up an OP or two on Youtube and you should have a pretty good idea of what to expect. The genre conventions to keep in mind:
- Friendship.
- The cast is generally somewhere in the 14~15 age range, although single outliers as far as 9 or 17 (or like 70 that one time) are not unheard of.
- Everyone has a magical girl alter ego name that starts with the word “Cure”.
- Here is a list of sample names. Don’t use any of these ones, though.
- Everyone has fairies following them around, providing exposition and magic powers. Often, but not always, named after desserts.
- Everyone has a steadily increasing pile of magical doodads that can
boost toy saleshelp them overcome adversity. - Teams are color-coded, super sentai style. The leader is usually but not always the pink one.
- Friendship.
I want in! What do I do?
Reply to this post with the following information:
- Your name!
- Precure familiarity level!
- Whether or not you are in anything else I’m running presently, or ran recently.
- Whether or not you’re also looking at AOB’s game, to help us coordinate things. Joining both will hopefully not be impossible!
- The times during the week when you are most available.
- At least one one-line character concept. You won’t be beholden to it, but it’ll get the gears turning.
- One thing you remember about Scooby Doo.
From all who do that, I will use a variety of mysterious factors to select up to five players for our party, and the game will begin at an undetermined time in the not-too-distant future.

I've played previously in World That Was, and while I am looking at AOB's game, I'd place priority on yours, by far.
I'm currently available on any evening of the week (defined roughly as '5:30 PM Pacific onwards'), however Fridays (if this is after AAA Precure), Saturdays, Sundays, or Mondays are preferable.
I've had a few different concepts for this one, which we've discussed before, but the common High Concept is Overenthusiastically Amnesiac Young Girl.
Scooby-Doo's door-chases, man. They were weird.

I'm currently in (and play the captain in) Pirates of North Blue.
Availability is pretty much any evening except for Wednesdays, since I open at butt-early o'clock on Thursdays. (I'd be available 6PM-9PM EST on Wednesdays but that's pretty much not gonna happen.)
The character concept I've been throwing around in my head is a Rebellious Delinquent with a Weakness for Cute Girls. Since the Precure theme is honesty, she might have to deal with things like being gay and being out (to what level it's played up as determined by how much or how little the other players want to deal with it, I suppose.)
Scooby Doo..... he's a talking dog and they never try to explain why he talks. That's awesome. Just take the concept and run with it we don't need no reasons, Scoob.

JackassPrecure. I aggressively know nothing about the Precure series, save for screenshots that pop up on Plurk and the occasional entry that I've seen while Tropesurfing.I have previously been a playtester for World That Was, and a guest star in North Blue twice. I have no idea who AOB is, let alone that they were running another game? So yeah.
Since my current class is College Student, my schedule is basically over every day after 3. Barring random club meetings on Tuesdays/Thursdays, I'm fine on pretty much any day once I get home around 4-5 PM (CST).
Character concept: Basically One Of Those Pastry Masters From Masterchef Junior But Also A Magical Girl, i.e. a young girl with a serious sweet tooth who works at a pastry shop with her parents. Probably fairly serious, a perfectionist, gets easily stressed when things don't go her way.
The one thing I remember about Scooby Doo is those sandwiches. Oh god those sandwiches.

2. I've never seen a single full episode of the show but I know more than I probably should from having several major fans on my plurklist and occasionally watching clips they link.
3. Nope!
4. I have no idea who that is.
5. I'm available most times, except for Wednesday and Thursday evenings, but weekends are best.
6. Selfish girl with a fucked up moral compass.
7. That despite fond memories from my childhood, no version of it was actually very good until Mystery Incorporated.

1. System Error, sometimes SirSystemError, sometimes (S)SE
2. None except what I've seen and heard. I've seen people talk about it and seen ads before, and I think I watched a speedrun of a Precure game (which was actually pretty broken), but that's it. Chronically bad at keeping up with anime, and perhaps because of that, lazy to get into it.
3. Not in anything past or present.
4. Don't know who that is!! :P
5. I'm available any time except Sunday nights. That's when I have a Fire Emblem tabletop. Afternoons/evenings work best for me.
6. Character concept: Type-A Personality Well-Meaning Upstart Activist.
7. Well, this was something from What's New series, but don't think I'm not familiar with the original or anything since fan and all. There was this episode where this monster was trying to sabotage a theme park. It turns out to be this chick who was the co-owner and sister of one of the victims. "I would've gotten away with it too," she says, and the gang points out, "Technically, you did get away with it," on account of doing nothing illegal. Because you know, reckless endangerment and saboteurism isn't a thing in the What's New Scooby Doo universe.

Two bonus questions:
1. How did you stumble upon this place?
2. Do you have a Plurk?

2. First time hearing of Plurk. Could easily create one, though. :3

I've never played in any of your games, previously or currently and I'm not looking at any others.
My schedule is very open and I'm available just about every day of the week. There is the timezone issue, but I have no real problems staying up at ridiculous hours, so really I can adapt.
My current character concept is a Stronger-Than-She-Looks Wannabe-Journalist Girl. Fairly cheerful, just not ridiculously energetic, and a little nerdy, but she accepts no shit from anyone. So don't cross her.
As for Scooby Doo, I mostly remember the chase scenes. Just. Those chase scenes.

My open days are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and maybe Sunday; on weekdays, I'm not available until 8 PM MDT; on weekends, whenever is fine. I have other pen and paper games on Saturday and Monday.
The idea in my head is a Hip, Cool Surfer Dudette that is sporty and popular, but not exceptionally bright. She's the kind that has a thousand Facebook friends, but may or may not be able to find any given one's phone number in her expensive smartphone. If the campaign fills for Cure slots, I might also be interested in playing a token uninteresting male character, should the plot require one.
Scooby-Doo is that one show where they would have gotten away with it if it weren't for those meddling kids and their dog, right? /cough

2. Not great! I've never watched any magical girl stuff besides Madoka, but I think I'm familiar with the tropes. I'm also in Precure AAA, as The Worst Magical Girl.
3. I signed on for your next World That Was thing, but it hasn't started yet.
4. I am not!
5. Thursday and Sunday nights are pretty much the only time I can commit to.
6. Creepy, vaguely yandere but ultimately good-hearted weirdo. Think Tharja from FE:A.
7. The ambiguity over whether they could understand Scooby or not.

2. Diddly squat. I'm aware of a lot of the tropes and conventions, but I'll probably have to watch a few episodes just to familiarize myself.
3. Nope! Completely new at this too.
4. Just got my sights set on this.
5. Pretty much any time on Friday or the weekends, barring exceptions.
6. Up and coming kickboxer with a tendency to set her sights just a little too high. Is probably way too excited about getting to beat up aliens and monsters and stuff.
7. Fred's bitchin' ascot.

Notable. I've seen three series and absorbed plenty through osmosis.
Nope
Nope
Thursdays and Fridays are preferable.
The Cool Martial Arts One I'm looking at the idea of a character that practises Jeet Kune Do and can modify that to either be competitive or more in it for reasons more along the lines of self-improvement. As the man himself said "be water."
They met Batman that one time.
