Let's Play Umineko Chiru, Episode 6 Scene 2: The Forger
<< | ^^ | >>

Ange awakens in an unfamiliar parlor. Her memory is fuzzy.

Okay, basics established. This must be a continuation of the journey to find out what happened in 1986.
The door opens.

Who?
Wait, wasn't Tohya a man?

BGM: Love Examination

Last year, a number of mystery novels by different authors won major awards. After the fact, it was revealed that each of those authors was a different pen name for Hachijo Tohya. Even following this, 'his' identity remained wrapped in layers of secrets and engimas.
This is the real Tohya, right here. She's interested in Ange because she was able to identify an as-of-yet unnoticed pen name of Tohya's.

11,019,960,576 is 18^8.
"Eighteen to the Eighth" in Japanese is "Tohya no hachijo".

Itouikukuro is a Witch Hunter. She's a Message Bottle Forger - one of many people who claim to have discovered new accounts of the Rokkenjima incident.

The truth of Rokkenjima gets blurrier and blurrier. Forgers are the enemy of many diehard Witch Hunters.
Then again, some people just enjoy the stories. Among them, the most lauded story is the one written by Itouikukuro.

When people find out that Itouikukuro is Hachijo, they'll start to wonder if this story actually is the truth of Rokkenjima.

Tohya's works need not 'rise' to the left of truth. After all, they ARE the truth.

Ange didn't come here to shout at an eccentric author, though. She came here to hear Tohya's truth.

Whether Tohya can prove that her truth is right or not is irrelevant. The truth doesn't change based on what humans believe...
...Wait a minute.

What happened after Rokkenjima?
Why did Ange have Sakutaro?
Why can't she remember?

The story doesn't add up. The publishing company never got back to her about Itouikukuro.
How did she get here?

What happened on that day?
How much time has passed? Has any time passed at all?

Is it possible that Hachijo Tohya is a witch?
She takes something out of a drawer and shows it to Ange.

A new tale. A new, unpublished forgery.
Dawn of the Golden Witch.

Isn't it about time to put an end to this farce?

The room and the people in it are gone. All that remains is Ange and a witch in a rocking chair.

This time, Ange won't be playing the part of a witch's piece. She is to be an observer.

Oh right, she didn't know about that, did she?
What the witch wants is to seek the truth that Battler found through Ange's eyes.

Ange agrees to a compromise: She'll read the story, but only to seek the truth herself. She can quit whenever she wants to.

To become a witch's Reader is to become linked to her. The witch will not allow any of the other witches to cause Ange any harm so long as the relationship continues.

Entertainment for the witch, protection for the Reader. A mutually beneficial relationship.

This entity, far beyond humans, is showing an incredible amount of respect and humility by even deigning to speak to Ange.
As further proof of respect, she even agrees to use Ange's name.
