Flameseeker: The Five Realms
It is said that the cosmos is comprised of these five realms:
The Mortal Realm
Most humans never leave this world. It is the world where demons, spirits, and gods have the least direct influence; many people live their entire lives without ever meeting a being from any other realm. However, all of the greatest cultivators and immortals were human once, so this is a realm of great importance. The various cultivator clans have schools here, in order to aid mortals in beginning their journeys into the beyond.
The Flameseeker Clan is one of many gathering around a great nation called the Middle Empire. It has endured for over a thousand years of war and peace, prosperity and ruin. The present era is a peaceful one in terms of war with other nations, although threats from the other realms such as demons and spirits are uncharacteristically frequent. There are of course other strange lands beyond its borders, where all sorts of mortals live with their own cultures and incomprehensible traditions.
The Spirit Realm
A mirror of the mortal realm, but one where spirits thrive. This is the world where cultivators gather and pursue their endless paths together, and the world most connected to other worlds. There's no limit to what you might encounter here, so if you wish to survive while traveling here, you must keep your wits about you, and continue your training until you're strong enough to be a match for the perils of this bizarre realm.
The Flameseeker Clan finds their home here, in a city of crimson spires and beautiful gardens. There is no poverty in the world of cultivators; everyone here has whatever they need, and are free to pursue their true selves without being burdened by the shackles of mortal society.
The Demon Realm
A shadowy realm of chaos and violence. Demons are spawned here, and battle ceaselessly with each other in an endless war with no clear sides or objectives. When they aren't trying to kill each other, demons seek to invade the other realms in order to plunder their power for their own. Demons know no compassion, no honor, and no allegiance, only greed and cruelty. Whenever you find demons, they must be destroyed. Never venture into this realm.
The Celestial Realm
The vaunted home of gods and immortals. Little is known about this realm, for its gates only ever open to a select few. The Celestial Court claims to be reluctant to meddle in the affairs of the other realms, but they do occasionally feel the need to make their ideals known and their rules enforced. Some would say they do so too often, and with little regard for context or nuance.
The Oblivion Realm
An empty realm where the souls of the departed rest. Legends speak of clever heroes sneaking into this realm and bringing back the souls of their dead loved ones, but none are certain to have happened. As far as reliable historical record is concerned, every mortal who has set foot in the Oblivion Realm has stayed there.
