Let's Play ADOM, Take 1

I'm going to alternate this with Mother 3!
The idea is this:

I am going to do a Let's Play of the roguelike "Ancient Domains of Mystery." I will die many times in it. But, the special thing is...

...you, the viewers, decide how!

Let's begin!

The rules of the game are as follows:
-At certain times over the course of the game, there will be multiple choices as to what to do.
-I'll make one comment to this post myself, starting an epic giant thread.
-At each branch, YOU post which choice you want me to take.
-I will respond with a chain of comments chronicling my further adventures, until we come to the next branch.
-Rinse, lather, repeat.
-If multiple people suggest things, I'll pick one at my whim.

All right, time to build a character!

Month of the Sword! A fantastic birth star for characters of the cutty, stabby persuasion.

And this is where the choiciness begins...

My gut tells me West, but I'm going to overrule it because it doesn't know what the hell it's talking about and say b) Go to the Outlaw Settlement.

Lawenilothehl! Never will you find a blah blah scum and villainy whatever god what a stupid name for a village.

There's a lot of stuff in this village! There's a mad doctor, who can give me a quest to get a skill I already had. There's a master thief, who can teach me lockpicking. There's a crime lord, who almost certainly has something even more extreme for me to do.

CHOICE

[identity profile] professor-prof.livejournal.com 2009-07-11 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
a) Talk to the Mad Doctor
b) Talk to Yergius, the master thief
c) Talk to Skriek, the ratling thief
d) Talk to Hotzenplotz, the Crim Lord
e) Go shopping
f) Get out of this place

Fun fact: Lawenilothehl is an anagram of "Hole in the wall"!

I like the sound of extreme things to do. D! Talk to Hotzenplotz, the Crim(e) Lord!

I'll go with this one!

Hotzenplotz wants me to murder the sheriff of the newbie village. While this would be in tune with my alignment, it's also pretty damn dangerous, and there's no penalty for ignoring quests. He says he'll do me a favor if I succeed.

Before doing anything else, I check out the Black Market. The prices here are ludicrous, and I'm pretty poor, but just looking at items allows me to recognize those items in the future. Thus, it's worth the visit.

CHOICE

a) Talk to Yergius
b) Go to Terinyo
c) Go to the Small Cave
d) Forget all this nonsense and head west

I hear there are dragons to the west.

Normally I'd put a choice here, but I'm out of food, and hobgoblins are delicious.

GAME OVER

That's what I get, I suppose, for being a caster, with only one shitty spell, of a race that sucks at being a caster, on a birth star aimed at fighter types!

It's tempting to say F just to spite the Frog from before, but that would be a boring adventure, so A: talk to the mad doctor. \o/ Everyone likes a psycho.
