There are many things in this village! -There's a village elder, with a quest for me! -There's a druid, with a quest for me! -There's a tiny girl, with a quest for me! -There's a drunken fool, who wants booze! -There's a baby dragon, who wants his mommy! -There's a store that sells food!
-The dungeon to the southeast is the least dangerous of these new quests, but it also has no limits on when it can be completed. -The Raider Lord won't appear anymore once I reach level 6. It's also very dangerous for lower-level characters within that range. He appears randomly in the wilderness. -The Puppy Cave is pretty intense; I'd stand a good chance of dying there, too. However, if I want to save the dog, the quest has a time limit of 4 days. So far, 14 hours have passed since the game began.
a) To the Puppy Cave b) To the Village Dungeon c) Wander the wilderness looking for Kranach d) To the Small Cave, which has nothing to do with my quests e) Ignore everyone and head south
Before we do much else, let's check out our equipment.
We have an unidentified ring on! How ominous.
We have a whole crapton of arrows. I'm tempted to switch to rock-throwing if we can find enough of them, though, as hurthlings have inherent skill at it.
Floor 2, however, immediately presents us with two dangers!
The clicking sounds indicate there is a giant anthill on this floor. Giant ants are pretty dangerous due to their high defenses, but I could probably take them if necessary.
That blue stuff up there? That's a river. Swimming is risky, as each tile holds the risk of taking drowning damage and ruining some water-vulnerable equipment.
Now we are trapped between a river and a locked door!
That " a ways back is a "parchment tome" -- an unidentified spellbook. I'd Spellbooks are amazing, but I currently lack the Literacy skill. Also, if I pick it up and then cross the river, it carries an extreme risk of getting ruined by the water.
Now, I have a number of options here. I'm armed with a club and a short bow. The arrows do more damage, but I'll be losing ammunition there. Then again, I have a lot of arrows, and may switch to rocks soon.
Club: +3 to hit, 1-6 damage Arrows: +5 to hit, 6-11 damage

I probably could have gotten along with an Orcish Elementalist, but then I'd be chaotic.
And we're off!

Talk to the tiny girl:
Her dog is missing! She says it wandered into a nearby cave!
...
He wants us to find and slay Kranach, the Raider Lord! Also, he mentions that he'll give money for the corpses of outlaws, raiders, and the like.
...
Monsters! From the southeast! Yggris the carpenter went down to check it out, and never came back! Rynt wants us to check it out ourselves.
...
Alas, the Druid's quest is mutually exclusive with the village elder's quest. So, no luck here.
...
I only have 39 gold pieces, so I can't afford an iron ration. Instead, I buy a solitary large ration, and go on my way.

About some of these quests:
-The dungeon to the southeast is the least dangerous of these new quests, but it also has no limits on when it can be completed.
-The Raider Lord won't appear anymore once I reach level 6. It's also very dangerous for lower-level characters within that range. He appears randomly in the wilderness.
-The Puppy Cave is pretty intense; I'd stand a good chance of dying there, too. However, if I want to save the dog, the quest has a time limit of 4 days. So far, 14 hours have passed since the game began.
This isn't that simple of a choice!

Floor 1: Nothing of much note! We killed a bunch of generic monsters!

Um um um um um.
So, I haven't even damaged one ant yet. I'm almost dead. Continuing will necessarily end in my death.
