Mokou has two special skills, only one of which I will ever use. The non-used one is Rebirth, which activates when HP, SP and MP are all below 10%, and restores them all to full. The one I'll be using is Resurrection, which activates the first time Mokou is shot down on a stage, and restores 20% of her HP, 25% of her SP, and increases her Power by 10.



It's a cool autumn morning! The others are back.



Time for roll call and strategy meeting! Our force consists of Kurumi, Elly, Daiyousei, Rumia, Meiling, Sakuya, Mokou, Alice, Keine, Meiling and Reimu. Cirno seems to still be lost, and Komachi hasn't been seen by anyone in a while.

But we have some surprise extra support!

As the memory of Gensokyo, Akyu knows more about youkai than any human alive. Rinnosuke specializes in obscure goods or items from the outside world. Both will be invaluable assets in the battles to come, even though they cannot fight themselves.



And now that that's all cleared up, it's time to talk battle plans! Youkai Mountain is a very dangerous place - we were driven out almost immediately on our last excursion.

So now that everyone is here, we can combine our power and succeed where we once failed!



According to Akyu, a critical point we can use to our advantage is the enemy's pride - after their decisive victory last time, they won't imagine that we would dare attempt a counterattack.

We'll split into two groups, one of which will act as a diversionary force to draw away the enemy, while another pushes through the gap made by the first group. Ideally, the two teams will later be able to reconvene, but...



The problem of communication is important - without a way to keep in touch, it'd be impossible for two groups to find each other in enemy territory. This is where Rinnosuke's skillset comes in!

Rinnosuke has an outside world radio tranciever! With this, both groups should be able to keep in touch with the shrine.



Cirno and Komachi still haven't shown up, but it's about time to leave without them. Time for our counterattack!

Chapter 19: Invasion! The Otherworldly Mountain's Autumn

Such beautiful red leaves... it's too bad you'll be falling before long.
This beauty is an announcement of the demise of a fleeting moment. I'll miss you all, but I won't despair.

"Sinister humans plan another invasion to youkai mountain! Tengu alliance prepares to repel the threat" is what it said.

The problem is the next line! "Two gods chosen as human sacrifice?!" We're being thrown away as a punchline!
And the picture makes us look pathetic!

Now that you mention it, even though they're smiling faces, it looks kind of sad...
What should we do? This is the height of our season, so let's take back our dignity as gods using the power of colorful leaves!

No, wait, we should use the power of sweet potatoes...

And we're back! Just one day after being kicked out.

Youkai Mountain doesn't look how I thought it would.
Shouldn't there be beast youkai lurking around every corner?

They're very human-like gods, so maybe it's better to go on without fighting them...

I heard the Hakurei shrine maiden was here, too...

Oho, it's you? Rumors about the Hakurei maiden have made it as far as the land of the dead.

The enemy isn't using their combination attack because Shizuha's Power is too low. I need to provoke her!



Finally, after about five turns of asinine awkward boss provocation, Shizuha is up to 120 Power. Show me this attack I need to get hit by!



All right, the situation's perfect! Ready, sis?

Enemy reinforcements! nine crows and six tengu. To win, we need to defeat the tengu.



So we'll cut to the chase and begin battling immediately!



While less sturdy on average than the wolf tengu, the crow tengu are annoyingly proficient at dodging.

Down to the big two!

As we venture further into Youkai Mountain, one thing becomes clear: This place is seriously gorgeous.

All the spendid colors of the leaves here are the work of Shizuha. There are all kinds of gods, after all. Sakuya gets to wondering what kind of god inhabits Reimu's shrine, but she doesn't seem to really know, or care.



Anyway, it's time to initiate Rinnosuke's plan! We'll split into two groups here. One will engage the defense forces, while the other aims for the shrine. If anything goes wrong, radio the other team. Reimu will lead the assaut team, and Marisa will lead the diversion.



During this conversation, Komachi notices that there's something odd about Mokou. Is she really a human...?

Before she can ask more, Keine hurries the meeting along.



And so the teams split up. Will they be able to reunite on the far side? Time will tell!



Aside, Alice talks to Keine about how Reimu still doesn't seem like her usual self, as if she's actually nervous. After all, this isn't exactly incident resolution...



And so Team Reimu is off! There's some uncertainty about which path leads to the Moriya Shrine, though.

Daiyousei is still keeping an eye out for Cirno.



Komachi is the next subject of conversation! Rumia is fixating on her enormous scythe. Komachi assures everyone, probably in vain, that she isn't a scary person.



Turning the conversation around, Komachi's asking about Mokou again! Just what kind of person is she? Reimu doesn't really know. Rumia just knows that she's somebody you shouldn't eat.

Next time, we're diving into another path split!
