Understanding is a good way to put it. The Inquisition doesn't care who or what it understands. All they want is to ruthlessly sort out the guilty from the innocent as quickly as possible, with no regard for motive or the falsely occused.

It's a broken system. Solving a crime without understanding the heart of it isn't justice or mystery. It's blind, reactionary revenge.
