Let's Play Umineko, Episode 3 Scene 17: The New Furniture
<< | ^^ | >>

BGM: Happiness of Marionette

Kyrie double-takes after pulling the trigger. Beatrice is right where she was, completely unharmed.
The bullet is frozen in mid-air, right in front of her chest.

Two humanoid forms rise from Beatrice's power.
The next generation of the Golden Witch's furniture. Furniture that the old Beatrice would have needed great power and preparation to summon, the new Beatrice conjures with a thought.

Siesta 45
Siesta Sister Imperial Guard Corps
Furniture to the Golden Witch

Siesta 410
Siesta Sister Imperial Guard Corps
Furniture to the Golden Witch

The new furniture are about as eccentric as the old ones. Possibly even more so.

Rudolf and Kyrie run. EVA-Beatrice orders the Siesta Sisters to kill them and fetch their corpses for a little fun.

The predecessor's wishes were more of guidelines than actual rules, really.
Operation commence!

The only problem with the targeting logistics is that Lucifer is in the way. Well, it's not a problem, exactly - such a minor detail won't change much.

As Lucifer flees, 45 and 410 chart a course through the mansion for their arrow to take. It does not have to be a straight line.

The first shot is loosed, inevitably striking Rudolf in the heart.
One down.

A second shot is not necessary. The arrow isn't limited to straight lines, so it simply curves around, spirals up Kyrie's leg, and strikes her in the heart as well.
Two down.

The fourth and fifth twilights end in Beatrice's overwhelming victory.

Freed from her human limitations, EVA-Beatrice is able to fully enjoy the ecstasy of murder.

Well, the ritual requires some extra details, doesn't it? The old furniture is needed to gouge the forehead and chest.
But until then, she can use the Endless Magic to enjoy killing them again and again!

That's about the time that Beato decides she has to intervene, before a repeat of Rosa's fate happens.

EVA-Beatrice has been talking with Ronove, so she knows about Beatrice's opponent in Purgatorio.
She also knows that he's in a different world, and can't reach this one. In other words, he can't interact with her, and she can't interact with him.
So, who cares?

BGM: Golden Sneer
She doesn't seem know the identity of Beato's opponent, at least.

Beato tries to explain that, as long as there's still a human who denies witches, she can't have total control of Rokkenjima.
EVA-Beatrice isn't buying it. Why should witches, who can use magic, need the approval of a single human to use it?

EVA denies the premise of Beato's game. She is already a witch. She doesn't need anyone's permission.
She's done listening to the predecessor's wishes. She has this game all worked out.

Whatever EVA-Beatrice does now, it is beyond Beato's power to stop it. The age of the second Golden Witch is over.

Beato knows well what the Siesta Sisters are capable of. Even she would have difficulty fighting them without preparations.
At Ronove's urging, she retires for now. EVA-Beatrice is in control of Rokkenjima.

Purgatorio

It must have been quite fun, judging by your antics in the past.
Are you saying this is like how you used to admonish me in the past, and I didn't listen...?
Why is it that you have started trying to scold that child's actions?
Mm, umm, well...
This is a single large difference between you and her. That child may already be a witch. Of course, you are also a witch, in the world of the game board. However, to be accepted as a witch outside the game board, you need to have your opponent, Battler, accept you. You must have understood that when you started the game.
I thought that if I could show off a whirlwind of proof that I am a witch, bow away his feelings that made him deny me, and make him surrender, he would accept me as a witch... it all went my way last time, so I thought I was just a breath away...
In your foolishness, you probably felt that Battler's self-awareness as your opponent was a first step towards making him accept that you are a witch. However, it was the opposite. Battler challenged you in this game because he definitely wouldn't accept you as a witch. No matter how much the thoughtless north wind blew, the traveler only wore his cloak even tighter. You were committing a huge error from the very beginning.
Uu, I've vaguely... noticed that...
Last time, it was a tough game for Battler, but it seems that you've already noticed: This time, the game is tough for you.
Wh... What should I do from here?
Think about it yourself. Fortunately, you have already given up your pieces on the game board to the new witch. You should have time to deliberately ponder upon yourself.
Isn't Battler's soul already hostile towards me? He won't accept witches, so he won't accept me... In that case, what can I do so that Battler will accept me...? Are you saying that if the north wind doesn't work, then I shold shine on him as the sun from now on? I should, after all this time...?
It is October now. The Halloween season. It is the month of rebirth, when the sun dies and is revived again. When the sun is weak, it may not reach far through the cold winter winds. However, it slowly grows, and is eventually able to hail the coming of spring. At that time, the traveler may even fold up his cloak.
