Let's Play Umineko, Episode 3 Scene 19: The Survivors
<< | ^^ | >>

Siesta 410
A weapon in a contract with Beatrice.
410 is a kid whose personality tends to cause her to speak arrogantly.
She has a hobby of laughing at people who are serious or not relaxed. Which is why she likes 45 and Lucifer.
She speaks roughly, but she loves company and easily succumbs to loneliness. She gets depressed if she isn't always being looked after by someone.
410 has excellent capabilities in firing control, and exhibits matchless battle power even at close quarters fighting.

The food expedition had a master key and a gun with them. Those have now been taken by the enemy.

The seven who are left are barricaded as heavily as possible inside the guest house. No way is anyone getting in here from the outside, master key or no master key.

After recovering from the horrible shock of her husband's corpse, Eva's resolve has hardened. The children must live.
Krauss, Natsuhi and Eva are downstairs. Battler, George, Jessica and Nanjo are upstairs. It might be possible to attack the second floor through the windows somehow, but it's at least safer up there.

Fatigue is setting in again.
George peruses a notebook filled with pictures of Shannon.

Meeting Shannon changed George's life. He became someone who existed entirely for her sake.
What does he exist for now?

George still exists. Shannon lives on within his heart. Instead of bemoaning their fate, he thanks her for filling his days with life, and teaching him to work hard for the sake of others.
Despite such brave thoughts, his grief cannot be quelled.

Jessica suggests an answer to Battler's question: With the old and weary, it's possible to anticipate the death, and let the sadness fade over a long time. When someone like Shannon dies, there's no such chance.

It's what happened to Kinzo. His love was snatched from him unexpectedly, and so he turned in his misery to the occult, to try and bring her back to life.

Even if it was just for a moment, before he was annihilated, Kinzo surely was happy to meet Beatrice one last time.

George swears to never again mock Kinzo's bizarre hobby. If he could meet Shannon again by devoting fifty years to black magic, he'd do it in a heartbeat.

George heads out to get some more coffee. The night is going to be long.
Still, he can't escape Shannon's memory.

Could Beatrice's power revive Shannon?
As he wonders this, his thoughts do not go unheard.

The predecessor still tries to understand the pain of death, and the value of life.
Most of her power has gone on to the new Beatrice. Still, reviving the dead might be possible.

A weak kind of magic, which relies on the strength of others. Something Beato had always looked down on, but now...
???

Rokkenjima

Beato risks being seen in the human world.
She has instructions: George will need to go to the parlor where Shannon's body sleeps.

Beato uses her magic to unlock one of the windows. It locks itself behind them.

Another display of power - they're not going to walk to the mansion. They'll fly!
In order to now fall, George needs to not question how he's doing this. If he denies magic now, he would plummet like a rock.

As they approach the mansion, other forces are at work.

The real Beatrice is nearly done with her rebirth.

45 and 410 scope out the scene. With only three people downstairs, the anti-magic field is fairly weak. If just one of them leaves, then they'll be able to break through.

At that moment, EVA-Beatrice senses something. A slight feeling at thte edge of her perception.
The Siesta Sisters didn't sense anything - they were too focused on their targets.

After a moment's silent communication between Lucifer and Ronove, they report that they sensed nothing as well. Beatrice reluctantly dismisses the feeling as imagination.

October 5th, 1986, 5:44 PM
6 hours, 16 minutes remain

All three of the guards downstairs insist on staying there, although one of them is still fighting her fever. Eva is sick, and hasn't eaten a proper meal since yesterday.
There are still 12 hours until the boat comes...

Eva's body weakens, and even beyond that, she's still suffering from the pressure of losing Hideyoshi.
She comes to reflect on the mistake of her greed. If only she had never found that gold...

Eva asks, EVA answers. What she did was not wrong.
EVA is Eva's evil heart. Everything EVA does is Eva's responsibility. The deaths of Rosa, Maria, Rudolf, Kyrie and Hideyoshi included.

EVA feels no love for Hideyoshi. All she cares about is the dream she had as a child.
Eva knows many more dreams. The dream of living a wonderful life with Hideyoshi. The dream of entrusting George with a future.

Eva begs EVA to disappear. Witches aren't real. They should stay in their fairy tales.

Just one more person who EVA-Beatrice doesn't have to answer to.
In the witch's absence, Eva questions herself.

Eva suddenly coughs herself awake. Seems like she dozed off for a second there.

Coughing and in poor health, Eva retreats from the lobby.

An older brother's job is to look after his younger siblings.
Now that it's come to this, Krauss can regret the suffering he brought upon Rosa and Rudolf. Eva, too.

Eva will probably continue to hate him for the rest of her life. She would be right to do so.
