Let's Play Umineko, Episode 4 Scene 22: The Victors
<< | ^^ | >>

Ronove's wall is not invincible. Despite the heavy damage she's taken, Jessica has pushed the wall to the breaking point.

This isn't over yet. Even if her next attack might succeed, it will probably be fatal to her.
Ronove is asking her to step down because he's afraid.

Forget the wall. Even Ronove himself might be crushed by that last all-out attack, along with the wall behind him.

But Jessica doesn't plan on backing down.

Outside, the other battle prepares to conclude with a single strike.

Gaap can't user her gaps right now. In the time it takes her to open one, George would probably kill her.
She has to handle this very carefully.

There is a blur of movement, but it's not George - it's just his jacket.

BGM: Dread of the Grave

Gaap lands, but a second pitfall opens beneath George as he falls.

It's impossible to dodge while in freefall. George has no way to defend himself.

End of the line!

But not for George.

He had anticipated this move as well. This whole time, Gaap was doing nothing but dancing in the palm of his hand.

BGM: Happy Maria! (Instrumental)

Gaap's final gambit. The two tests reached their climax at the same moment, so she used each one against the other.
Gaap and Ronove are the victors.

Purgatorio

Rokkenjima

Time to tidy this up a bit.

George's body stays in the arbor, while Jessica's body stays in the mansion.
Out of respect for a defeated rival, Gaap restores George's body to decent shape.

As a last memento, Gaap's stiletto heel puts a hole in his forehead as the only mark on the corpse.

Ronove revives Jessica, but his magic is not endless. He has only prolonged her life for three minutes.

Ronove bids Jessica farewell, and vanishes from the room.

With her remaining time, Jessica calls the guest house.

Jessica warns Battler. Their enemies aren't human. It's been useless to fight since the beginning.

The enemies are demons with immense magical powers. That is the absolute truth.

If the others don't escape, then the one to test Battler will be Beatrice herself.

Ronove's magic wears off.

Meanwhile, the other group continues their escape.

All five of them made it out. The mansion is within reach!

BGM: Mirage Coordinator

Kanon falls, his body disappearing back down the well.

The next shot obliterates half of Shannon's head.
The other three run.

What exactly was their plan? What were they going to do once they got to the mansion?

This isn't an enemy you can fight or run from.

Kyrie, with moments to live, calls Battler.

She doesn't have much time to talk, so she urges Battler to listen. He must listen.

It's fine if he thinks she's lost her mind. She's going to tell him exactly what she saw.

With perfect clarity, Kyrie describes everything she saw. All of the deaths, everything they did.
As she does, the gunfire through the keyhole gets more and more accurate.

Kyrie asks about George and Jessica. Battler doesn't lie.

What will happen next?
What's happening on this island?

It is no longer time to question the existence of magic. All he has time to do is try to live.

Even now, Kyrie can't quite believe what's happened. So, her last advice to Battler is to try to believe. It might be his only chance.

There is no reply.

At the ninth twilight, the witch will resurrect, and none will be left alive.

24 hours, 13 minutes remain

Maria offers her usual cheerful explanation - it doesn't matter how many people have died. Beatrice will revive, and everyone will meet in the Golden Land.

They won the Demon's Roulette. They'll be invited for sure.
Maria will be with her mother now. There won't be any overnight stays or lies. They'll always be together.

The game is over. Someone might still be alive somewhere.
There's no reason to stay in this room now.

As soon as Battler leaves, he hears a sound from the room.
A phone ringing.

He rushes back in and demands to know who the call was from.
The only people left on this island were Battler, Maria, Gohda and Kumasawa. So who is this call from?

But that doesn't seem right, either.

Kinzo and Maria never had a good relationship.
There's only one person who Maria could be talking to.

As soon as she gives Battler the phone, Maria leaves. She has to go to her own test.

BGM: Happy Maria!

The woman on the phone says that Kinzo is her prisoner.
It's finally time. At last, they will meet face to face.

As Beatrice chats with Battler, Kinzo sits across from her. Their last chess game unfolds.

Beatrice is drunk as hell. Kinzo thinks she's overdoing it a bit, but he's mostly just happy to see her again.
So who is this, Battler asks? Could it be...

Battler demands to know where they are, so he can beat the shit out of them both.

The front entrance to the mansion.
That will be the place for Battler's test.
