Let's Play ADOM, Take 1
I'm going to alternate this with Mother 3!
The idea is this:
I am going to do a Let's Play of the roguelike "Ancient Domains of Mystery." I will die many times in it. But, the special thing is...
...you, the viewers, decide how!
Let's begin!
The rules of the game are as follows:
-At certain times over the course of the game, there will be multiple choices as to what to do.
-I'll make one comment to this post myself, starting an epic giant thread.
-At each branch, YOU post which choice you want me to take.
-I will respond with a chain of comments chronicling my further adventures, until we come to the next branch.
-Rinse, lather, repeat.
-If multiple people suggest things, I'll pick one at my whim.
All right, time to build a character!

Month of the Sword! A fantastic birth star for characters of the cutty, stabby persuasion.

And this is where the choiciness begins...

CHOICE
b) Run away
I declare you Urzu3 because I was logged in to this journal.
...
Since I don't have any spells learned yet, and since I'm a troll, the strategy for fighting these guys is pretty simple: Approach outlaw, apply club.
...
Weirdly enough, only four outlaws! Normally bands are larger.
My spoils are one uncursed hat [+0, +0]
DV/PV explanation:
Armor is usually associated with two numbers in square brackets, as shown above. The left number is DV, which reduces your chance to get hit by stuff. The right number is PV, which reduces the damage of attacks that DO hit. Either way, even 0/0 items have their uses, so I equip it. Besides, hat.

b) Check out that cave I saw on the map
c) Head back north
d) Head on west

Re: CHOICE

Those of you who were in the chat when I test-drove this idea will know of this place: I'm in the Infinite Dungeon. Before going any further, let me tell you some things about this place.
-Only simple, early-game enemies appear in this dungeon.
-The enemies, however, will increase in level as the dungeon goes on.
-There are an infinite number of floors.
-There is nothing down here.
CHOICE
b) Get the hell out of here
Re: CHOICE
...
Our first discovery of note is a scroll I found lying on the floor. On one hand, it's cursed. On the other hand, it's labeled "CHUTZPAH."
Really, neither of these mean much, as cursed scrolls usually function alot like uncursed ones, and scroll labels are randomized.
CHOICE
b) Hold onto the scrolll for later
c) Get rid of the scroll
Re: CHOICE
Re: CHOICE
...
Oh, good. It was a cursed Scroll of Uncursing, which curses the item instead of uncursing it. Try wrapping your head around that one!
...
The next thing we encounter on our adventure is a locked door! I don't have any keys, so I'm limited to either walking around to find another path, or trying to kick it down. The latter, however, carries the risk of triggering a trap of some sort.
CHOICE
b) Kick the door down
Re: CHOICE
...
Learning the spell, I discover that it costs 21 power points, out of my total maximum of 15. I have to burn some HP to cast it, which isn't healthy if you do it too often.
Door unlocked! Just for fun, I'm going to explore the rest of this level.
Gained a level!
Like traits, I'm not going to give you guys control over my skill selection. I'll pick the three most essential for this character: Healing, Concentration, and Literacy.
The level is more or less cleared now. This is the way down.
CHOICE
b) GTFO this dungeon
Re: CHOICE
Flee! Fleeee!

From here, we have a number of choices...
