Ladies and gentlemen, only four competitors remain! In our previous installment, Chris was routed by XC, while Tomiko was defeated by Preston in two mighty clashes of power. This brings us close to the finale of this tournament, with only four competitors left... one of whom will be eliminated this week! Our matches are a classic grudge match and a rematch from earlier in the tournament! OH, THE EXCITEMENT.

And so the first two rounds of our tournament are completed! In round two, Void, Tomiko, Prof, and XC won their battles, advancing to the third round to begin brutally cutting each other twon in a battle for the title of KING OF UNL. Ayame, Eric, Hustino, and Preston all fought bravely and perished, now moving to the Lower Bracket.

But tournaments are not all about fun and games! Just mostly. Like 99%. The other 1% is ELIMINATION. Today, as the Upper Bracket enters the semifinals, the Lower Bracket matches begin, meaning that after this round, four players will be eliminated from the tournament once and for all. Who will it be? The suspense is paramount!

Updates to rules:
-Nobody is obligated to have their match any time before the previous round is all up on youtube.

First announcement! The real reason for you guys sending me all your screencaps is here! Our friend and competitor Llama has created a Youtube Playlist for the tournament, containing recordings of every battle in Round 1. It will be updated as each round is completed, so you can use this to keep tabs on the people you have to fight later down the road. Enjoy!

Second announcement! The original server has been overfilled, and is suffering from connectivity issues. All further tournament matches will take place over the server NexusRumble. This is a private, tournament-only server, so contact me (AIM - ZebulonCrispi) or one of the other contestants to get the password.

Still got three mighty battles for round two, so let's see some violence! Post results, as usual, to this post.

Thank you, all participants in round 1 of the tournament! In the conclusion of the first round, Void, XC, Eric, and Hustino won their battles, and will be fighting four new mystery contenders in round two! Admirable fighting spirit was shown by ZF, Li-Chi, Chris, and Llama, who were ultimately defeated, but will still have a chance for a come-from-behind victory in the Loser's Bracket. Best of luck, everyone!

Updates to rules:
For your round to be properly counted, all the following must be done:
-One of the combatants comments to this post, detailng who won, who played as who each round, and whether or not Weatherkill was used.
-Replays are sent to me or to Llama for every round.
-Remember, both players must have Weatherkill on or both off, or the match will de-synchronize and that is very bad.

Match 6: Eric VS Tomiko Tomiko
Match 7: Prof VS Hustino Prof
Match 8: XC VS Preston XC

All matches are complete, Round 3 and the Losers' Bracket will begin shortly!

Deadline for this round of the tournament is Wednesday, May 19th. Have your battles done before then!

Ayame, Tomiko, Preston and I have yet to fight any official bouts in the tournament, so WHO KNOWS how strong they are! Let's enjoy a great second set of matches!

Rules updates/clarifications:
-All round 1 matches must be completed by midnight on May 12th. If games can't be worked due to lag or lack of player availability by then, those rounds will end in a draw, both players being removed from the tournament.
-If one player is in contact with me and ready to play, but the other seems to have vanished, then the missing player will be ejected from the tournament at the end of the week.
-Save Replays. If there's a lag-based dispute over who won a match, compare replays. When you finish a bout, stick all 2-3 replays up on SendSpace or YouSendIt or something and reply to this post with links to them. This is partially for accountability, and partially because I plan to compile all these and post them in a youtube playlist when this is over.
-Seriously, save replays. My official policy as Tournament Coordinator is this: If you didn't save a replay of a match, then it didn't happen. Thus, if you win, it is in your DIRECT best interest to save that replay. It's on the screen after the victory quotes, after it shows you what cards you unlocked from that match. Just select 'yes'.
-Matches in the Winner Bracket are numbered. If you lose, you will continue to the Loser's Bracket in the space indicated on the diagram.
-Round Two of the tournament will start either as soon as every Round One match is complete, or at midnight on May 12th.
-Please don't jump ahead to the next round until I post the next bracket update.

And with no further ado!

TOUHOU HISOUTENSOKU 2010 RUMBLE
ROUND 1

1: Li-Chi VS Void Void
2: Llama VS Eric Eric
3: Hustino VS Chris Hustino
4: Floogy VS XC XC

If you are not on the list, that is because we didn't get a full 16 battlers, so you'll have to wait until Round Two to learn who your opponent is.

All right! Touhou Fight All Set...
READY GO!

Okay, time is rapidly approaching for the tournament to begin! Unless anyone really can't do it, we will start on

MAY 5, 2010

That gives you all another week to prepare! Also, I'm making a couple last change to the rules.

1. In lieu of requiring a spectator for matches, I'll require that you save replays of each round. Then send them to me when you're done and I'll compile all the battles into a youtube channel or something. UNL has in-game replay saving, so this should be easy as pie.
2. If you cannot be contacted for one week since your next bout became open to begin, then you will be disqualified from the tournament. This is to keep the game from grinding to a halt if someone vanishes off the face of the Earth.

SO that's it! Get practicing. Also, PLEASE REPLY TO THIS POST WITH SOME KIND OF CONTACT INFO. That way, we can all contact each other to set up matches.

Tournament rules, VERSION 2:

1. Standard double-elimination tournament format.
2. Each set is determined by best of three matches.
3. Within each set, you must pick a different character for each match.
4. If someone is cripplingly lagged out, the match is determined to be a draw.
5. Before the match, both players must agree on whether or not to use Weather Kill.
6. Okay, Patchouli can play too.
7. Each match must have at least one spectator to verify victory and validity of match.

SETTING UP UNL

Getting the games

1. Find a download for Scarlet Weather Rhapsody.
2. Find a download for Touhou Hisoutensoku.
3. No, I won't help you find them.

Syncing SWR and UNL

1. Go to the folder where SWR is installed in Windows Explorer.
2. Right click on the path at the top of the window and click "Copy address as text".
3. Go to the folder where UNL is installed.
4. Open the file called "configexth123.ini".
5. Near the top, there should be a line that says "Path=", followed by a directory path.
6. Delete it and paste in the address you copied.
7. UNL will now import all characters and data from SWR.

Patches

1. Get the 1.10 Patch for UNL (one of the top three mirrors).
2. Run the patch program.
3. When it asks you for a directory path, provide the directory where UNL is installed.
4. Note that whatever you put for the directory, it will add "\th123" to the end of it. Delete this.
5. Install patch. UNL should now be upgraded to version 1.10.
6. Download the English Translation Patch.
7. Run the patch program.
8. When it asks for a directory, give it UNL. This one won't play any tricks.
9. Install patch.
10. Run th123e.exe to confirm that the game is now in English.

Disabling Weather

1. Get the Weather Kill Program.
2. Save it to the UNL directory (may not be necessary).
3. Run Weather Kill.
4. Run UNL.
5. Click the box in Weather Kill that says "Kill weather".
6. Weather is now disabled. This is required for tournament play.
prof: (Default)
So! Now that more people are starting to get interested in the game:

I propose an online UNL tournament.

Anyone can join, so long as they can get the game working and get Hamachi working for netplay. It's easy! Also, I'd put it a bit in the future, so that people who just started playing recently can get up to speed.

THE RULES would tenatively be as follows:
1. Traditional tournament bracket format.
2. Each set is determined by best of three matches.
3. Within each set, you must pick a different character for each match.
4. If someone is cripplingly lagged out, the match is determined to be a draw.
5. During Typhoon weather, both players must withdraw to opposite sides of the field and wait for the weather to end.
6. No Patchouli.
7. Each match must have at least one spectator to verify victory and validity of match.

I'll go ahead and start TAKING SIGNUPS now. If I can get 8 or more, let's do this thing.

CONTESTANT LIST:
1. Prof
2. Eric
3. Hustino
4. Equilibratum
5. Tomiko
6. Floogy
7. XC
8. Chris
9. Void
10. Llama
11. Ayame
12. GREATEST WALL, HONG MEILING Li-Chi
13.
14.
15.
16.
